Man, I really wish I had the time. Side-scrolling RPGs are the best. :) I miss playing Exile...

All I know is there's a sofa waiting for me at work Monday morning where I'm going to crash after living 48 hours on pizza and amphetamine, lol. For the greater good of game development!

I'm so upset that I will not be able to participate in this event.

Damn this stupid dirt-poor life of mine!

I don't get to enjoy my life, no. I gotta go walk the street trying to make a buck just so I can eat!

You guys enjoy your contest.

I just joined up because this sounds like a lot of fun. :)

If no one minds, I may try and find some time for it this weekend.

Hey guys,

I saw the announcement on ludumdare and thought this might be a fun way to hone my game-in-a-weekend skills before the next LD.

I probably won't have that much time available but since the rules are pretty relaxed I should be able to manage to do something by reusing some code from previous compos.

Anyway, it should be fun.

Well, I might still attempt to dive into this after all. I may not be doing what I originally planned to do this weekend, so I might have time for this. Also, I made a bit of money this week liquidating some of my possessions, and someone wants to pay me a high value for some of my prototypes...work is going extremely slow, but it should pick up very soon. In any event, I'm going to spend part of tonight continuing work on my game engine...I can try to build it on my wife's Windows machine once it's finished here on my BSD box.

It's looking like this compo will have a good turn out.

I have coded everything from scratch (well with flash at least and a few libraries) and so far I'm very much behind where I would like to be with my engine but it's nothing a few red bulls cant fix :)

I'm a little excited to see what I can come up with tomorrow for my game design... just hope I don't spend too much time planning it :P

Heh, this seems like fun. I'll join.

By the way, any good tips for finding pre-made art and music?

I'm a stickler for not using art that doesn't allow me to go commercial, so I can't recommend too many places since most don't allow for such things BUT if you don't care about the license you can always google like "ripped sprites" or something of that nature.

As for music look up "the free sound project". Not sure if its just sounds or music too but they have a large library of free stuff.

Good Luck!

mysterycoder, for sprites you may want to checkout SpriteLib (http://www.flyingyogi.com/fun/spritelib.html).
