As much as I'd like to say yes, I think it's way to soon to make that call. Let's all try and get *something* by tomorrow evening, even if it's only a screenshot :)

have not decided if I'm in or out, but I'm working on something original.
definitely not a traditional rpg thats for sure.

I'm all for the extension. But I agree with terry, lets not call extensions until its due.

I want to see what everyone else has got by the end of the contest. :D

If the contest is extended, I'll make an entry, but I won't be able to enter otherwise.

Wheee! It's Saturday night and I'm writing a combat system from scratch. My artist got our overworld basically finished today.

How is everyone else coming along?

I've finished my environment graphics, and I am writing the player entity class now.

Next, I'll write the game world class, and then the code for navigating the game world..dont know how much more I'll be able to do tonight.
But I'll do what I can.
I'll be sure to post a screenshot before I hit the sack tonight.

{EDIT}

plans have changed!
I'm not driving to San Antonio tomorrow!
So, I'm going to pull an all-nighter and try to pull something together for this contest afterall. :D

Alrighty..now I'm getting somewhere :D
I just finished mapping the first level (roughly 28 rooms)
and added some more graphics to show the directions you can move in.

Man this is fun. :D

Still don't know how much of a game it will be...but I'm trying!

Wow, DevX, that looks really strange - compelling in the best kinda way! Can't wait to see how it plays!

I've got an engine that's basically ready to go, but I'm way behind my goal. Should have a screenshot later on!

Here is a taste of mine.

http://devxcode.googlepages.com/iqdemo_111807_335pm_setup.exe

I don't know how much more of a game I can make from it..cause I spent so long making it a fricken windows-friendly exe & installer... >_< god I hate windows.

If you have any troubles, let me know.

I'm still working on adding more to the game, this is only the first level walkaround demo.

Attention!

As is traditional, and as confirmed by the majority in the IRC channel, we have an extension! You now have three more days to finish off whatever you had in mind on friday night. The contest now ends on Wednesday night.

Try to keep in mind that this extension is supposed to give you time to finish off your idea at your leisure, not to allow you to make your game 150% more complicated. Also, if you wanted to enter but didn't have this weekend free, feel free to join in now!

It would be nice if you could submit something tonight, entrants! Even if it's just a screenshot...

(congrats, DevX!)

Here's my contribution
http://www.colossusentertainment.com/forumref/kassandra_1_2.zip

If it doesn't run in fullscreen mode, try running it in windowed mode.

A shame I don't have the time to use the extra three days, would have been good :D

MG, like I said in IRC, that's excellent for a 48 hour effort. Kudos :D

Here are a couple screen shots of mine:

Beginning of the overworld map.

Rudimentary combat.

In light of the extension I probably won't kill myself to upload a playable version tonight, but I'll try to at least put together a small demo of the exploration and combat before I go to bed.
