Sounds interesting. How is it used?

Yes, anything that can improve hex map support in tiled is
interesting to me.

I submitted a patch to fix (well, almost any way) the problems
with translating from screen coordinates to hex coordinates.
I'm not sure what happened to that as I did not get a response.
I can send it to you or post it to the list if anyone is
interested. The code is not pretty. It was more of a
trial-and-error-unti-it-appears-to-be-working-hack.
