What's up with that?
Recently the forums have been going painfully slow, to open a topic it takes close to 3 minutes. (I've clocked it.)
I have a cable connection, too.
And all the other forums I visit work just fine, so it's not my connection.

It's not effect me! It's working like a charm on this end. You prolly need to clean out your internet files or something. _________________ How much crap would a wombat bat if a wombat could bat crap?

It used to be pretty much instantaneous for me; now the loading bar is just barely crawling.
EDIT: Speeding up a bit now...

I have noticed a substantial amount of lag in the past few weeks... and it doesn't seem to be improving at all.

It loads in .2 seconds for me.
But that's just because I'm awesome and you all suck.

I'm, I've never had speed problems either. Nevertheless, I've put "try to speed it up" on my TODO list.
It might be related to the new messages indication, which I altered from the normal phpBB way. Are you keeping any unread messages in very old threads? Does it speed up when you use the "mark all forums read" or "mark all topics read" links?

That doesn't help. The main page loads fine, but the forums are still sloooooooooooow.

Hmm... to enter a topic takes a few seconds for me but to get the post a reply page comes up instantly. It is a bit slower than usual thought. _________________

Ok, thanks for the info. It's still going fine for me, so it can't be server load issue. And because it's the two of you, I'm assuming it's no client or ISP issue either.
I don't have time to go into more detail now, but I'll look into it over the weekend. Of course, tell me as soon as the issue magically disappears.
Edit: I have to go away now, but I'll do a short investigation when I come back in a few hours.

Well, I don't know if it's the cause of the slowdown but there is certainly something wrong with the table storing who read which thread last. For Sirocco and Josiah it's storing about 200 entries while for MadQB it's storing 600 entries. Strangely enough, there are no entries for me, adam or Ninkazu (the way it's supposed to be).
The thing is, when you've read all new posts, there is no reason to remember when you read each thread so it should remove all your entries. Over the weekend I'll try to look into why it's not removing the entries. I removed over 600 read entries which were by Anonymous, because it shouldn't be storing entries for anonymous users at all. I'll have to fix that too, I hope it'll speed things up in general a bit.

I've not yet been able to fix this problem. I had to go and re-install my Linux system instead, transformed it from Slackware to Arch Linux.
Hmm, something seems wrong here in general, no new posts for over 2 days?

Speed seems to fluctuate wildly. At times it will fly, then seconds later it'll take nearly 30 seconds just to load a page.
