PostPosted: Sun Aug 15, 2004 10:51 am    Post subject: After a long break.... [quote]

After a long break from rpg and game development I've returned. I'm surprised at how long I've managed to stay away from this scene as I'm fully addicted to it again after a few hours of catching up.

Anyway, I want to take up my old project again. It's called Dark Fantasy and it is a CS RPG based on Finial Fantasy and Dragon Warrior (Maybe Zelda too it all depends on the new engine).

Well Whup-dee-fuckin-doo I hear you all say.

Dark Fantasy's story has been developed since June '97 and is quite detailed, The game is non-linear with linear sequences to direct the game flow. (Thanks for the better explaination white_door) There are numerous sources of evil in the game, which one rises to power depends on your actions throughout the game.

Anyway, If anyone wants more detail simply ask and I'll fill you in with as much as I can.

I'm looking for anyone who is willing to help me out in anyway (code, art, music, design, comments, suggestions, criticism, testing etc) with code, music and criticism in particular.

I am completely open to suggestions and will gratefully take any help offered.

I'd like to develop the game with Allegro or SDL, but as I said I'm open to suggestions.

It's good to be back and I look forward to hearing from you all.

Regards,

Kyper (Mark Grenham)

What OS are you writing for?
Are you porting the code from QB or writing the whole thing from scratch?

Well I've been learning a lot of SDL since I last posted so the game will be cross platform (Windows, Linux, Mac) and I'm recoding everything from scratch.

If you have any more questions just shoot and I'll reply as best I can.

Are you at all interested in helping out?

I doubt it. "Help" usually involves assigning tasks and stuff, and I can barely make time to work on my game. And I don't know much about what you plan to do, anyway.

Actually,

Electrosoft is now a registered company and RíOS is still on going, just taking a break from other projects (Also thinking bout building RíOS on top of a Mach microkernel but anyway)
Electrosoft now develops Custom Software & Hardware solutions.

Official Launch will be as soon as the invent centre run over everything.

But anyway. Its good to be back.

I'd be interested in helping. I've got plenty of experience in SDL and DirectX and C++ is my main language of choice. I've been looking for an RPG to work on for a while. You can check out all the things I'm currently working on and have completed in the past here, complete with source codes as well: http://www.zenogais.net/projects

Kyper,

I've been trying to contact you over AIM for the past few days and you never seem to be online when I am online. I've sent you a private message informing you of this problem, and if you could please contact me via email/private message instead then I think that we could arrange a better meeting time. Anyways, my email is as zenogais@gmail.com. I look forward to beginning work on this project.

Sincerely,
omega_alpha (aka zenogais)

I might be able to help. I'm used to Allegro now, but I can probably pick up SDL quickly. I'll talk to Ben about music too. The thing is, he's kind of burnt out right now and for the music to fit, the game has to already be done so he can assess the mood to make the music.

So... ya.

But for DF I can probably help with tools and some other engine systems.
