No demo = no sale (from me at least).

Well, if I make a demo available, will you buy the game?
I can make a demo version in ten minutes. _________________ Principal Software Architect

OY!
DeveloperX!
THAT's who it was... Dunno if you remember me, but...
Anyway, if you make a demo version available and I like it, I'd buy the game if the payment method isn't obscenely complex, heh.

At least try to get some sceenshots online. Also, a demo wouldn't only allow me to see if I like it, but also if it works on my system at all. :-)
Nevertheless, very cool to see you go along with the sale of your game!

I remember you... hey did you ever use my rendered gfx in worlds beyond?? if so, please say you gave me credit. ;)
What's been up? If you're available for some more pixelstry....
I would love to have you on the team again...
I think that since 3 have asked for a demo, I will go hack up a demo and then I will be back to this forum.. be back in ten - fifteen minutes. _________________ Principal Software Architect

My thoughts.
No screenshots?
Is your only marketing to spam the general discussions board?
You are requireing people to be technically savvy to play your game with things like zip files and paypal. Anyone technically savvy enough to do this already knows where to get better games on the internet. You should make it as easy as possible for people to get and play your game.
I should be able to know what to do without reading the manual. I was trying to find the shoot key there for a few seconds. Perhaps throwing "dodge" up in big letters at the start of the first level might help.
Also the difficulty seemed a little high on the first level. Lowering it would give some kind instant gratification to the player as they don't have to die a few times to get through. It will also give players more time to get used to the game.
You should have annoyed me more about buying the full version from ingame. You should get a more memorable address for your game. A come.to one is a good free start.
Needs to be prettyer.
I found this website to be a good read. Has a lot of things you would be interested in. http://www.dexterity.com/articles/ _________________ https://numbatlogic.com

Having played the demo, I can say that the game just isn't my cup of tea. I wasn't able to make it past the second level before I lost interest. Therefore I won't be buying the game.
One problem with the demo: after the game over screen, I get a black screen. The only way to leave this black screen is to press escape repeatedly until the program exists. You might want to fix that.

Actually, I never did use those graphics, mainly due to the fact that the game hasn't been finished yet... ;)
I MIGHT be able to do some pixelling for you, though once I get my computer back I'm going to go into a huge crunch to get everything I've missed done... That includes doing graphics for about five projects, music for three, and countless writing projects-- So I may be a little limited in the time department. Of course, if you need a few graphics now and then (as long as it's nothing big), I could probably help out.
By the way... You might want to work on the text in the Story section... Seems more than a bit rushed to me. Anyway, I shall try the demo sometime after the 13th, when I get my computer back.

No screenshots for only 1 reason:
I cannot figure out how to get my damned laptop to take a screenshot (usually printscreen key, but on my laptop it doesn't work)
I personally hate 'nag screens' and that is why I don't have them. I never bought a game that used nag screens to get me to buy it.
Graphics are simplified because I wanted to show DarkBllade that it was possible to create a game without bitmaps. (long story behind this, anyway...)
About not knowing what to do, that is because I removed the story from the demo.. the full game has a long story, and explains the controls.
Difficulty: to each his own.
Anyway, I didn't think that it was too hard, and neither did my girlfriend, nor my 5 year old nephew...
But, I'll make a 'training' mode for newbies... (guess this means I gotta work on NC more.. and not my autumn contest entry's engine....well, mebbe not.. I'll make the training mode later.. hehe...anyway...
PayPal isn't easy? since when? ..you have an easier method of payment??
Zip files are difficult? sheesh..in a world of technology....ah, nevermind.. the full game uses an installation program.
my address isn't memorable? ccps.rpgdx.net ??
whatever.
I guess I could setup a redirect..
nadierianchaos.cjb.net??
Okay, well...you know what they say, "your first ten games will suck"
This being my first finished game.. that means I have to write nine more before I get a winner..... hehehe _________________ Principal Software Architect

well, whenever, if ever you are not loaded up on so many projects..let me know..cause I'm sure that I could find something for you work on. ;)
the story..oh, oops..that old stuff on the site.. right.. that was rushed, heh gotta take that down, thanks for reminding me.
The actual story was a little more prepared.
I hope that you, my old friend like the game.
Ah, anyhow....I'm going to go take down that old story stuff, and go back to my coding... _________________ Principal Software Architect

I don't think a training mode is needed, just one or two realy simple levels at the start.
I'm just saying that if you want to sell as many copies as possible you have to be as easy to buy as possible. Having to make a paypal account to buy the game is too complex for some people. Using a zip file is too complex for some people.
If you wan't to sell copies you have to do everything you can to get people to buy. Even then people may not like the product.
But i guess if you are not even going to do your best with graphics it doesn't matter. _________________ https://numbatlogic.com

You know, that's generally what a hotwired in-game key for taking screenshots is for. _________________ "...LeoDraco is a pompus git..." -- Mandrake
