And I was able to get allegro to install. For those not in the know, it's a PPC architecture version of RedHat. The pissy part is that Yum and RPM doesn't seem to work all that well right now. Which is sort of pissing me off, since I need RPM to install some of the software I'm used to. But that's alright. This way I can now get the best of both worlds at work- since alot of the apps for Linux are much more mature than those for OSX. But OSX is faster and has a lot of benefits.

I'm actually ditching OSX at work for Yellow Dog Linux. I'm keeping OSX on a dual boot right now just to please my boss (who I think is pissed off that I installed a new OS without his knowing), but Linux is much more compatible with Windows stuff than OSX is. Like, I can open Word docs in AbiWord or OpenOffice. On OSX, the only place you can really do it is in MS Word for Macintosh. They have Abiword and OpenOffice ported to OSX, but they aren't very stable.

Sigh.

Although I did get RPM and Yum to work now. Yum is nice...and so is RPM, but dependancy hell is still very prelevant in Linux and it's frustrating me to no end. I have decided to setup a Yum server for Freya though, so people can easily get the dependancies for it on Redhat like systems (Yellowdog, Mandrake, Fedora etc) though.
