Other than a few posts I plan to make. This month I'm trying to focus completely on Freya 2.5, and getting it out the door before the end of February. I actually might make this a full 3.0 release just because of all of the *very drastic* changes to the codebase. (for those of you not paying attention, the next full release will have 640x480x16bpp support as well as the current 320x240x16bpp, a custom map/tile engine, an advanced 'object' engine (with animation support and meta data support for making a complete game system) an in-game map editor, and in-game object placer, better in-game console utilities, 3d support with isometric Voxels, a voxel editor, a voxel map editor, blah blah blah and bug fixes out the ass). Anyway, I'll post that update here when it's done (as well as a voxel editor for Freya, which is pretty much a stand alone app), but I think after 2.5/3.0 is finished, I'm going to take a month off from coding. It's been a long few months, and Freya has eaten up a lot of my freetime. I'd like to branch out for a bit and do some more stuff, get better at watercolor painting, maybe write some more, etc etc. But I need a break. So, once that is done I'm just taking a month off, cold turkey.

Hey, good luck with it! I know how hard it can be to keep focussed, I hope this will do the trick for you. :-)

Good luck witrh Freya, and IMO the break may be more important than a new release! Don't overwork yourself. I did, and fell into a bad burnout slump.

Well the focus right now isn't the problem- ever since I started work on Freya originally I've been able to stay focused directly on it. The main problem I'm seeing ahead of me right now is the abundance of work that needs to be done outside of the code space (ie: examples, testing on Linux, documentation being the worst...). But I'm moving foreward with it.

Oh I agree. I know I'm going to need this break after this. I plan on doing other things for a while, and hope it will help me find my internal compass, and give me direction to go after this. But the rest will be needed.

It may be time to involve other people in the project, if you really find yourself not liking the chores of testing and documentation. ...Why not involve some of the people in Freya's community?

Yes, I'm sure the person who wrote the code can pass the task of writing the documentation off to someone who barely knows anything about it. That'll produce excellent documentation. :-)

That's not a bad idea otherwise, though.

Neither am I.

No, seriously... I don't think I've posted in almost a year.

well maybe if you take yourself as the baseline for that comment, yes, there are people smarter and more intuitive than you janus. i'm sure they could help write the documentation. :-)

That would explain why I was so surprised to see your name under the "Last Post" column.

I think this would be a good time to ask Leo Draco to remove that out-of-context quote I made about Darkdread from his signature. It was a joke. Come on, get over it. Besides, I'm sure it makes some people uncomfortable.

I think you're the only one uncomfortable about it. Besides, bringing it up now just calls attention to it. Maybe it would've been better to just not say anything?

What does this have to do with this thread?
