Are men less sensitive than women? I'm sure am because I dont give a damn either way.

Your argument is baseless. You're also trying to go off on a tangent. Focus, man.

Would you play a game that looked like a PlayGirl(r)(c)(h)(k)(tm)(sm)(allyourbase) magazine? Probably not. At least, you probably wouldn't admit to it here. That's just part of the point: too many games are designed for adolescent males. Another part is that in games that otherwise try to be realistic (read: practical) we're asked to believe that female characters are placed in dangerous situations wearing less than they probably have on when they go to sleep.

EDIT: Tenshi: Oh, yes. The whole game's design is unfortunately crap. Few good points, but mostly bad.

For a good reason, mind you: it's a very important demographic in terms of people who play games. The average gamer is a young guy in his early teens to early adulthood, after all (though I've heard from a number of people that it tends towards early adulthood; dunno, I don't play games as much as I used to :P )

However, admittedly, the female gamer is no longer as rare a creature as they once were. Either they're coming out of hiding, or the gamer species is reproducing...! ;) The proportion of gamers who are guys nowadays isn't as high as it once was.

Maybe the gaming industry will start to shift accordingly in the near future...? Dunno. Most of this is baseless. Just some casual observations from my end of things. Like I said, I don't play games as much as I used to.

Check http://www.igda.org/women/

As retail stores already know, the most coveted of demographics is female. Brand loyalty, disposable income, word-of-mouth factor, you name it. "I design games for me to play" aside, ever tried to design one for your wife/gf/female in your life? Do you know what games girls like to play more? That's a good compo challenge, but I don't think we have enough judges here... :(

I dunno... I think Tenshi got it right. And I can admit that I have played DoA Extreme Volleball crap game, thats pretty much like any playgirl magazine. I didn't play for long thought, because I believed that it sucked. But that game was just flesh and no gameplay.

Does anyone really know? I doubt it, otherwise we'd never have seen Barbie Horse Adventures or Mary-Kate and Ashleys adventures in wonderland, or whatever that was called. Girls play games in Japan, maybe we should ask them. I rather suspect the games we have are perfectly good, but girls in the west don't seem to do it, so maybe it's more a cultural thing than a thematic thing.

My wife loves playing games, and like me she's an RPG addict.

Playgirl has males and is targeted towards females, Playboy has females and is targeted towards males.
