I know there are dev studios in Texas....I'm just having trouble finding them.

Any help you can offer would be most appreciated.

I'm looking for entry-level positions anywhere in the houston area.
Thx

Not living in Texas, I can't help you much. But maybe this is useful?

If you're confident in your experience, try applying somewhere. According to this, there are a lot of game dev companies in Texas, so one of them should accept you if you have the experience they're looking for.

But if i wasn't being a dick it'd say you should see about testing positions. If you read some of the info out there you'd see that a lot of people work their way up from there. Try having a look at http://www.gamasutra.com . It's free to get an account.

Oh ya, check out ion storm. I hear they hired from outside the industry as not to poach from other companies.

thanks guys
I had forgotten about gamasutra.....its been a long time since I had last visited that place.

I've sent out 78 emails today, and I have already gotten positive feedback from 3 studios.

wish me luck, hopefully I can get where I belong, somewhere where my skill can be put to use, instead of wasted at some dead-end 9-5 retail job.

This is more specific to Austin but it is the biggest game dev city in Texas, plus a cool town.

Didn't W.A.S.P make a song about Austin?

I only have Still not Black Enough and Inside the Electric Circus. I'm pretty sure none of those songs are about Austin. Do you remember what the song's name was?

WASP: The Last Command - Blind in Texas wrote:
An El Paso hellhole I couldn't higher
White lightning moonshine tastes like fire
I drank for free till I couldn't see
I fell on the floor, what I said is

I'm blind in Texas, the lone star is hot tonight
I'm blind in Texas, the cowboys have taken my eyes

I drank Dallas whiskey and lost my mind
Had high-balls in Houston, three for a dime
Everything starts to spin, loaded on gin
I fell out the door, what I said is

I'm blind in Texas, the lone star is hot tonight
I'm blind in Texas, the cowboys have taken my eyes

San Antonio and the West Texas town El Paso
Corpus Christi and Waco, the Yellow Rose is wild

Hey dude, let's party
Raisin hell in Austin just after sundown
When the hoosegow police decided to come round-they said
"Boy what's the matter with you, what you trying to do?"
I looked at the man and I said

I'm blind in Texas, the lone star is hot tonight
I'm blind in Texas, I'm blind (Texas, texas, texas)

You probably were thinking of that.
