I need to get the basics of J2ME down so I can be eligible for a position at criticalmass.

Anyone got some good tutorials, or some sample code I can check out?

You should download the J2ME Wireless Toolkit (I think the latest version is 2.2) from Sun's website.
http://java.sun.com/products/sjwtoolkit/download-2_2.html

That includes several sample applications for you to try, and looking at the source to those should get you started.

Thanks.
I downloaded the toolkit, and I wrote my first midlet program.
I think that I should be able to get the hang of this within about a week or so.
I hope. :D
This guy is offering me $45 an hour if I can learn J2ME before the programming needs to be done for his project.

I cannot disclose anymore information about the project itself.
I dont have the position yet, but he said if I learn J2ME then I'll get it, cause noone else has applied and he has been looking for someone for 2 months.
..can you say "Fate"? :)

Two weeks should be plenty, the prime quality of a good programmer is the ability to quickly become productive in a new (but similar) environment. Learning how to effectivly read manuals and dig up information is invaluble and makes you productive almost instantly no matter what crazy language and platform you're put to work in.

I wrote my first midlet without any reference.
I'm making progress, now that I have an understanding of how to get the midlet up and running. :D

My aunt is going to get me a few books on j2me tomorrow as well, so that will help alot.

I _could_ just use online research to learn it, but this wireless connection is very annoying.
It always drops out on me when I'm trying to finish loading a page...I need to get a book so that I can work on this stuff without having to be on the stairs with my laptop... :P
