Ideologies aside, i'm pretty fed up with him. Couldn't we just ban him and have done with it? I know it goes against what people think about free speach and suchlike, but it's getting beyond a joke really. It seems that so much effort is going into telling LG that he sucks that other topics have a lower priority. If we could remove that annoyance, maybe things would be a little better for everyone.

I voted for ban but changed my mind. He is one of the few that writes strange/stupid and lame stuff about hitler and psycho types. I have three things to say to you LG;
Peace, take better care of your friends and stop write about psychological types.

The whole "Aw c'mon big guy, you can better yourself! :)" speech has been given to our dear LG so often it's no longer any amusing. Seeing as we're at a point where 80% of the boards want him banned (with his own "no" vote included in that figure, to boot) shows they're wasted words, however.

I'm all for freedom of speech (and being somewhat tactless myself, I'd be a hypocrite to claim otherwise!) but when a thread like this pops up and gets results like these, it's obvious the situation isn't simply going to resolve itself and that someone in charge is going to have to put down their foot and curb this golden "freedom of speech" thing a little. It's destroying the boards.

Heck, issues like these shouldn't even crop up on a message board. Pretty much the entire league of active posters is singling out a single member because of abusive behavior. It's not as though it's just a handfull of person being annoyed by a few isolated flames...

But hey, just to humor good will and expectations, I'm going to ask this to LordGalbalan, and I'd love to see an official reply from him:

Do you feel you've done anything wrong? Do you believe you can put aside your behavior and change? Or do you feel we're entirely unjustified in taking action against you and are all wrong about this? I'm asking this in full seriousness: can we expect you to change your behavior, grow respectful of others and acceptant of criticism, and cease being generally annoying towards people in general, and thus giving us no more reason to push for a ban or other action towards you? Or is everyone justified in feeling you should be removed from these boards because you don't intend to change any time soon?

Please answer. I'm not asking this as an attempt to flame you; it's a serious question and attempt to forget about bans and whatnots. Are you going to justify this thread entirely or...?

"Free speech" has nothing to do with my feelings on this at all. People who think that free speech principles -- which limit the ability of a coercive, inescapable* government to prevent us from having free discussion -- have any place on a private, small forum. (* Sure, you could escape the government by moving to another country, but that's so wildly impractical as to be irrelevant to my thinking.)

It's not that I think LG has a right to post here or that I think RPGDX has a duty to listen to him. I just think as a practical matter of forum governance, banning someone because he annoys people with his way of thinking isn't that great a strategy, since it often winds up resulting in a tribalist outlook dominating the board.

Ren writes, "Right now LG is talking over us," but that just doesn't seem to me to be true. The topics that he didn't start, like the Dev Journal thread, the mathematical art thread, and the Mana World thread, have not been adversely affected by him at all. (He posted once in the art thread to say that he thought the mesh was beautiful.) My thread on my game idea hasn't been disrupted by him (it's been disrupted by my lack of time to think about it). He did nothing in the mentor thread.

RuneLancer says that he wants LG to stop destroying the forum, that it's clear LG can't be talked to, and then proceeds to end his post with an invitation to start another round of bickering with LG. Why? All the traffic caused by people getting stirred up about LG would go away if people just ignored him. Is it really that hard not to post about whether Hitler is Odin? If he's past the point of listening to advice -- as I think he is -- then why advise him at all?

Don't get me wrong, I won't go around feeling like a grave sin has been done if he gets the boot, and I don't think it'll hurt the forum in any meaningful way. It just seems somewhat unnecessary. It also seems to me that LG's antics reflect less poorly on the forum than does the forum's reaction to his posts. The fact that people just can't stop talking to him is pathetic (a vice I myself am only barely able to resist, I admit).

I'd like to see interesting threads here as much as the next guy. I try to stimulate conversation, but people just get peturbed that I don't respond to their criticisms. So what? Ignore me if you want.

At least I can look at decent discussions on GDR, where I don't say anything.

I never said he was a god. An incarnation of some kind of force we don't understand working in the world, possibly. That's why I drew attention to him.

Perhaps you would prefer discussion of Nietzsche.
