I know this sounds bad, but I really laughed at your sarcastic post, Runelancer. That was hillarious!!!

At least you can keep a good humor about things, and that's part of why I like you. :)

LG has a playmate! :D Yet another of these "Lord xyz" people...

http://lordgalbalan.livejournal.com/98407.html

When Two Lords Collide - Sung to the theme of Iron Maiden's "When Two Worlds Collide"

I take a look out into LJ tonight
A little geek flamewar Seems quite funny tonight
His ideas are so flawed... Can he be growing worse this time?

Now I can't belive it's true, But I sure know what to do
For the hundredth time I post about his declination

Now the amusement just grows
Even my computer shows, There are two arguing it out.

Now it's happened - clash of two views
Collision course, you must believe it's true
Now there's nothing left but to enjoy

When Two Lords collide, the Angry and the Lame
Nothing else remains - When Two Lords collide
Who will shut up first?
No way to hide it...

When Two Lords collide, the Angry and the Lame
Nothing else remains - When Two Lords collide
So who will stop first?
No way to hide it...
When two lords collide...

Why not help me betatest this thing, or provide helpful suggestions, instead of making my personal life an issue?

I dunno RL, maybe you overstepped somekind of boundrary here...
Yet I cant help thinking that your 'When Two Lords Collide' is whoopie funny.

LG: What is there to do except looking at the naked ladies walking in circles on the chessboard?

We love you to RL, but only in a strictly platonic way :)

Download the hosting package. Upload it to a PHP-capable site. Open SceneLion and learn from the readme. :) I've included instructions. There is no tutorial, but it doesn't seem that difficult to figure out... there is far worse documentation out there.

What you see is just the example. SceneLion can do much, much more. I have provided a clause in the user agreement covering third party utilities, and I'm not about to abandon this program.

Also, I'm thinking that when I've taken SceneLion as far as it can go, I'm going to take it one step further by making an interactive version of it. An RPG without mechanics, where you just walk around and talk to people, basically. (but with cinema, of course) I'm trying to get to the very heart of what makes RPGs such a personal experience.

You had me thinking your time away from us had actually changed you for the better... until the last sentence. Then I realized, yep, LG is still the same 'ol LG after all. ;)

Well, best of luck. Whatever satisfies your curiousity. >"<

What's wrong with investigation?

I am open to questions about how the program works, discussions, etc. PM me if you need help.

Ever consider Javascript Gamelib? The official site has been taken down, but what it had was quite impressive.

It was developed with cross-browser compatibility in mind, so you might find it useful. Keyboard input, audio, sprite handling, and all that jazz.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it uses Microsoft-specific routines. I can't get cross-browser capability, which is a definite for SceneLion, with IE-specific features. Beyond the IE-specific features, it doesn't do anything more than what I've already got. (I do have scrolling routines (see Iconsole), I just haven't implemented them yet)

And... I don't want to *help* M$ in any case. I would rather have their philosophies discouraged, not encouraged. They aren't really team player/open source philosophies.

And I don't agree with GPL either.

Well RL, turns out your advice about using innerHTML turned out right after all. I had provided the name of the text window as a parameter to the text display function, and it turned out that by destroying the window via innerHTML, and recreating using the same method, I had invalidated its implicit link to JS. Passing the node itself after looking it up with documnent.getElementById solved the problem. Thanks.
