Recently I made a small game for the Swedish Game Awards Warmup Competition, which had the theme "Vikings and the future"

It's not an RPG by any stretch, but people around here usually give so useful feedback that I thought I'd post it here anyway 8)

This too I made in (mostly) a weekend (though I had a bit of a head start with some of the art, the competition was for a full week).

I'd love to hear what you guys think of it and how you think it could be improved.

Game is here:

And it looks like this

There should be a way to duck, dodge, or jump over the bullets. The difficulty ramps-up too quickly; level one and two are very easy, while level three and beyond become excessively difficult due to the number of freezing bullets and simultaneous spacecraft.

Additionally, it is currently possible to die after the "Stage Clear" message appears if a bullet is already heading towards the player when the stage is completed.

The tempo (pace) of the music should probably change based on the number of enemies on the screen. Right now the music plays at a frantic pace even when there are no enemies visible (and also between stages).

It was probably due to the timeframe, but there does not appear to be an animation for the baby when he climbs up and down the ladders.

The trunk of the palm tree seems out of place when compared with the quality of the other graphics.

Perhaps there could be something to collect for additional points like the fruit in Pacman or coins in other games.

Overall it is a fun game with potential.

How did your entry fare in the competition?
