I'm currently working on letting players alter maps and build pathways (more construction options to come ...)
The only way type is currently "gravel", and I'm looking for a proper success message from the game.
Is "You pave the ground with gravel" proper English? If not, what would be a better way to say that?

"Pave" is generally associated with asphalt, so I'd go with something like "You cover the ground with gravel."

Thank you. I'll change that. What about "You build a piece/segment of gravel (covered?) path" ... is there an elegant way to say such in English?

Hmm...I cannot think of anything more eloquent than that. But how about 'Gravel Section Created' or 'Gravel Roadwork Complete' or something like that? _________________ Mao Mao Games

I think Josiah Tobin's suggestion is good, because it is generic and the word "gravel" could be replaced with other materials to create a consistent and uniform message. For example: "You cover the ground with cobblestone."

Thank you for the clarification. I'll use Josiah Tobin's suggestion then. Thanks all for the help :)
