well, I'm working on the RPGDX revamp...having some problems moving the old database to the new site though (grumble grumble grumble), but so far here is the basic look and feel:

now remember, this is just an idea....final version might not look like this.

I agree, it's like walking over a snowy mountian without wearing sunglases. In other words: It's like watching a totally white monitor.
It doesn't need to be black tough, just everything that's not white... Or soft pink.

I think I like the current theme more, without the 'nifty' gradients. Somehow I don't like the use of too much gradients.

Just an opinion.

It looks grey on my computer, not white. But I agree, a darker background would be better.

Everything is floating, and ya, white = burned retinas.
It should be all interconnected or something. I agree with everyone else, the current site is better. Just stop worrying about the site and work on your games, they look so kewl!

why not just muted colors (64,64,64 - 192,192,192), solid 1px borders, and no useless crap. no gradients, no bevels, no drop shadows... it'll load fast, look good, take less time to make, and get the job done.

And why would I want my own skin for a site? The look of a site is something special, it's not for changing it to your own wishes, it's for reconisation.
Besides, it'll only slow things down, right?

i thought about that....and no, it won't slow things down at all, really. The skin thing is in there mainly in case i feel like giving the site a facelift any time in the future it will allow me to change almost every aspect the site with only a few clicks. Of course to change the actual site engine (like adding a new feature) would mean i'd have to code it....but just changing it's look and feel it's really simple.

again, wether or not it will be up for people to abuse/use is a diffrent story. right now only moderators can create and apply skins to the site.

I actually like the white design, since so many people are making dark websites nowadays it's kind of refreshing.

- Yeah, I'm shifting mine from a dark website to a bright shade, once I get my colors selected. I'm still kind of building all of the elements of the stylesheet and what exactly I'm going to put up. Go bright. =D
