[I'm starting a thread here to track development on my eventual contest entry. Even if you don't have much to say yet, even if you're only vaguely planning something and not sure if you'll enter, I encourage everyone else to do the same thing! I'm going to start publicising the jam next week, so now would be a good time to start building up some momentum!]
So, I spent a lot of last week or so thinking about a bunch of possible premises for this game, all of which gradually creep out of control until I've got a monstrosity on my hands, as usual. So instead, I think I'm going to take a much olderschool approach to things and focus on the combat. My game may not even have a plotline; I'm going to build a little engine for it, write some music and aim for a general mood instead. I'm hoping that I can spend my time making the core game itself fun to play; to make the combat interesting and the concepts exciting! Even if the game's only ten minutes long or so.
I'm planning to compose a full soundtrack for the game at some point before it starts. Not entirely sure that'll actually happen though, given everything else that's going on right now. I came across this VST, which gives me exactly the sound I'm looking for for this.
I'm also planning to do this in Flash, which is something I've taken a big interest in recently - I'm hoping that by doing this I'll have at least a semblance of an RPG engine that I might be to build on for more ambitious projects down the line. _________________ http://www.distractionware.com

I'm interested in how yours turns out, as I'm also working on a flash rpg project. I have alot of experience with flash but not so much making flash games, it will be my first. Anyways good luck. _________________ pixoasis /The Search For... /K9

Progress!
I've still barely started, really... I'm just hoping I can come up with a prototype at least by the deadline... _________________ http://www.distractionware.com

I've uploaded the work in progress here. It's just a walkabout engine at the moment - I need to move onto some actual content now... _________________ http://www.distractionware.com
