A long while I thought my game projects fail because of my lack of painting skills. The amount of work required for artwork, and the amount of time needed.

At some point I decided to try a very simple art style. Simple outlined, colored images, to be able to focus better on the game. It failed again, and I had to realize, that it's rather my lack in game design skills than painting that causes the problems.

Now I want to offer the created images to everyone who can use them. The style is simple, and most tiles are generic.

It should be easy to expand on these for anyone who ventures in game creation. Some say consistency is important for visual presentations. If you got some high quality tiles, and want to add new ones, you might be unable to do that - with these simple tiles, you can easily expand the set in a consistent manner for your needs.

Most of these images can be easily imported into a vector drawing tool like Inkscape, vectorized and rescaled without quality loss. So if you need the tiles in a different size, you still should be able to use them without problems.

Nice stuff, I really like the style - simple but effective. Thanks for sharing!

I know what you mean, making the actual game is really hard - harder than programming or art, and much harder than writing engines or general games tech.

Yes, a long while I refused to accept this. But one can learn painting to some extend, and one can learn programming, so I have some hope that game design can be learned too. I'll keep trying :)

DeveloperX was so kind to assemble a handy package with all the lineart tiles included:

http://storage.ccpssolutions.com/hm-lineart-package.zip

Thanks DevX!

Is it ok to link to your server, or should I host the package on mine?

The visual style is quite unique, I like it.

Its perfectly fine to link to the file on my server.
I'm glad to help out. :) Pretty cool stuff in that. I might be making use of some of it, and as per the license, I shall give proper credit.

Thanks :)

I've uploaded my small set of "sci-fi/space" tiles, also some more "decoration" tiles, and two more in the category "outdoor", a ladder and a trapdoor.

@DevX

Good luck with your project :) If you need some tiles, maybe I can help with painting. From next week I might be more busy again though, can't say how time will be left for private projects.

If you should make new tiles by yourself, I'd like to add them to the list, with attribution and link to your website of course.

I've now linked your archive from my forum and tried to advertise your CCPS Solutions site a bit - maybe that will help you in some way:

Also I noticed that I had forgotten shield in the armor section. Added a small collection of shields today.

Cool man, thanks for the advertising! :)

When you've got more art to be collected into archives let me know and I'll happily put them together.

You might be interested in knowing that I made the collections from the command-line using ImageMagick.

The whole process consisted of saving the images to a directory, then running a few commands to create the categories and then make the sheets, and the zip. :D
I love Linux!

Linux isn't bad, I've been using it for many years. I'm pondering setting up a Linux box again, with Ubuntu. At least with Cygwin I can have a lot of the Linux goodies, too, and it's currently more convenient for me to run Windows and Cygwin than Linux and Wine.

I think I'll be busy with other things the next while, so it's a good time to compile a new archive, the collection should be stable. Thanks again :)

Made a new "Animals and monsters" section with a small assortment of beings:

Added some more elements to the "Alien/Sci-Fi" section - plant thing, crystal thing and the infamous blob:
