Hey all, I am just here to ask that some people PLZ try out Dark Realms... I made it to prove more to myself that I could do something cool in VB, and it would be great if some other people could help me improve it :)
Thanx for hearing me out, for the URL of my website Dark Realms is listed in the classical RPGs section!

PS v0.77 will have a resource pack uploaded for it soon, it won't be very impressive but WILL have a semi-updated tileset :)

ummm, you do know barok, that the forums are just a part of a larger site called RPGDX, and that dark realms's stuff is on it? So no need to search the net, just use the community resources available to you.

EDIT:

Sorry for the free webhost popups :p Soon I hope to get DSL and I will most likely setup my own server, but till then Dark Realms is going to have a semi-decent website 8-)

This was with the latest exe and resource pack. I didn't bother to upgrade my VB runtime.

Okay, did you download the v1.2 resource pack? If not, you are trying to run v0.77 Dark Realms using v0.68 Dark Realms tilesets.... :)

Also, I just thought of one more thing for anyone with probs related to Dark Realms... I have a pathetic but functioning forum on the website, if you would post your problems there I would greatly appreciate it 8-)
(Soon I may get a PHP forum but as I am running off a free web server I will have to see if it offers all the needed resources for free!)

I wouldn't recommend free ezboards, as they contain an obscene amount of ads (and non-free (gold) ezboards are expensive). Unfortunately the other free boards either suck (YaBB) or require a database server (phpBB).

Thanx for the input :) I would not be using all this 'free' stuff if I could afford a better server... but since I am a poor guy like alot of other computer guys (not Bill Gates), I will survive with what I have. Maybe I will get more hours and then have enough for a database server or something to that end :)

Hey Rainer Deyke, is Dark Realms working correctly? Or is it still giving you grief? 8-)

I downloaded the 1.2 resource pack, and it seems to run OK now. Not much actual game though (with the realms being closed for renovation). Character creation is weird: I can type anything I want in the 'race' field? If race makes no gameplay difference, why have it at all?

Good point about the character creation... the reason for races is that while the character can choose from the start his/her race, you can change it later on using events or check it (EG: If the player race is Elf allow him entrance into the Elves guild)

As for the game itself I am sorry for that, I started work on Unlikely Hero just for ANYTHING for a person to play... Dark Realms isn't really just for playing other people's realms though, you are supposed to make one and show it off :)

However, I will finish Unlikely Hero soon and get that online so others can play around with and see how I made it :-D

Okay, LOTS has changed now... you can create your own sets of items/equipment/etc and realms work WAY differently. I won't tell you because I want you to download it and find out :) lol, also the Exe download includes a setup program that installs the Dark Realms executable (NOT the resource pack, you still MUST extract that manually into the Dark Realms folder!) along with all the dependancy files :) Check it out, and let me know what you think!
