At last, I found the strength of will and a spare hour to build a little site around my project:

http://ashes.lalista.org
Here's the url: now the call for help is official :) Check the details within.
Thank you

Wow, those two monsters are great... who did them?

Oh, and a scrollbar would be nice in some parts of the site. I can't even read everything in 1024x768 without having to select and drag to the bottom text.

EDIT:
Ah, they're Q2 models.

And I see there is a scrollbar when there's no random screenshot.

Right right: scrollbars! I will add some soon. I made up the site in great haste.

As for the monster, they're the living explanation of my problem: see how nice do the engine render them? But, unluckily, that's a couple of Md2 models I found on planetquake...

That's a hastily thrown-together site? With all the frames and that pretty effect with the top graphic there? No, no, this is a hastily thrown-together site.

I though you should know that Ashes is already the title of a game on RPGDX. Nothing wrong with having two games with the same title, just something to look out for when/if you put your game on RPGDX.

If you're really desperate for textures, one (admittedly, fairly lame) thing you can do is scrounge around the ARS Photo Archive. You should be able to find textures for grass, water, and such, maybe. At least, I was able to get some fair 2d tiles from it. Everything on it's PD, of course.

Yep, not bad for 'hasty' and I REALLY like the title graphic/painting.

Thanks for the appreciation :) Right now I am using - as textures - ground shapes extracted from Ultima VII (!!) and reworked a bit (we're speaking of stuff that's mostly 64x64 pixels or so).

Heh, I guessed Ashes was a pretty common name, but after all it's the name I gave the game when I coded it years ago in Amos (triggered by Daemon's Winter, which I liked too much), and later remade with SSI's "Unlimited Adventures" pushing the very limits of the package.
Where can I find this other "Ashes"? I am very curious to see my "cousin"'s face!

ps. The site's "logo" is a painting by Monet ;)

He made the name of the game a link to its project page on RPGDX...

but trust me you don't want to see it...

it was the effort of 48 hours and I didn't ever get around to releasing my final version of it that had balanced gameplay. (at the moment the only way to be able to finish the game is to delete the 'battle.hrs' script file and skip all the battles :p)
