I'm supposed to make a blog format website for my school's Anime Club, but I have a large feeling that I'm missing something....

how about contrast/readability?
Red on blue is horrible. Red goes on black and white only. for blue, you use white or a VERY light color.

Well I don't want super bright stuff, since the color scheme is dark... I know the text color has to change, but to what?

As I didn't get a chance to see the first color scheme, I can't state an improvement. But the current one is rather nice.

Are you missing something? Conformity to web standards is one. The forums on the site needs it's theme changed is another. Content, maybe? Uh, well that's all I can think of right now.

Besides all that, very nice, straightforward design. The picture is a bit too bright for the background however.

The background, actually. I'm not sure if you were going for a uniform look, but if you changed the background of the page to the "background" color of the image it would look a lot better (to me at least).

I have no idea who Kenshin is, sorry to assume.

(ninjas are cooler than samurai)

How's that? They played the same role in the feudal system as did knights in Europe, except they had Bushido instead of the Chivalric code.

I'm a big fan of samurai personally, although they had a nasty tendancy towards bullyish behaviour. Mostly just because they were one of the higher castes in society so they could do whatever they wanted to commoners. Not that they always would, but it happened a lot.

Plus Samurai movies are wicked.
