I am an artist in need of a rpg engine and editors for a project I am about to start. Applicant must be willing to tailor the engine to my needs, and work with me through out the game as I come across things I might want to add or tweak. Pay and everything else will be discussed when you reply. You can ask very general questions here as I will be checking back from time to time. However please email me as killergoat389@yahoo.com if you are interested. Thanks and Merry Christmas! _________________ "VENI, VIDI, VICI"

I'm interested. What do you want it in? DirectX? OpenGL? Allegro? SDL? Is this going to be 3D or 2D? (I'll email you)

You do have a quite much better chance to get anyone to reply if you could show a design doc and outline exactly what this wonder engine is supposed todo. Also offering pay is well maybe well ment but quite redicioulus considering that to get any quality you would either have to pay like $100/hour or find something that is as enthusiastic as you are and in the later case you would probably make him feel less involved in the process making him loose intrest fairly fast anyway.
Also there's a lot of free rpg-makers and ready to use engines floating around the net if you just want a standard run of the mill engine.
Anyways good luck assembling your team and hope the game turns out ok. _________________ If there's life after death there is no death, if there's no death we never live. | ENTP

Thanks for the advise. I understand that it will be hard for anyone to keep interest because I have been there before and I have lost interest myself. You also must look at it like this that even if I just took on a partner and we did the game free of charge on both parts that the chance that one or both will loose interest is still there. Atleast this way I have creative control and my end of the project isnt crippled when and if the coder backs out. Also I know I made this post alittle post haste but I was about to start the design doc and then have the coder work on it with me. I also know that there are plenty of freeware rpg makers out there but they are just to lack luster and I would rather have the engine honed to exactly what I want. Anyway thanks DC for your input and if anyone else has some advise on a better way to go about doing this Im open for suggestions! _________________ "VENI, VIDI, VICI"

Oh yeah. I'll definitely be applying, since you don't even have a timetable yet. I'm sure that if I actually did work for you that I'd get paid, since you 'didn't think about it that much' and obviously have contingency plans for every possible accident and bad happening that could occur, and you have the programmers' pay stored away safely in a CD or bank account somewhere.
Seriously dude. If you're going to be blowing money on this game, at least do yourself a favor and spend a few days working out a timetable and design document. A script (if it's story-oriented) wouldn't hurt either, and diagrams of game levels definitely help.

And be really sure that you in the design document plan every major future, from rendering and combat to object system and NPCs.
You won't regrett it and anyone actually applying will know at least something about what's expected. _________________ If there's life after death there is no death, if there's no death we never live. | ENTP

I could really care less wether or not you apply. I mean seriously this is supposed to be a fun project working with others making a farelly decent game. Also I have already found someone to code for me if you look further upto the top of the post. I have been working with this person making the design document so we can bounce ideas off of each other. I know that I didnt mention any of this when I first posted this forum and that is because I didnt want people like you to apply in the first place. I work as a carpenter full time so dont assume that Im some 14 year old who just played xenosaga and wants to duplicate it for 100 dollars. Im 20 years old own my own house and can easilly afford anyone interested with half of one of my paychecks. So if you want a job great, if not go somewhere else.
P.S. Yanus, please dont talk to me like Im 12 or get smart or sarcastic with me anymore because I doubt you can back up that mouth if you were talking to me face to face :) _________________ "VENI, VIDI, VICI"

Looking at the US flag in your avatar, I assume English is your first language. If I am correct in this assumption, you just made yourself look stupid by getting corrected by a 17 year old guy whose first language is Swedish.
Quote: | I know that I didnt mention any of this when I first posted this forum and that is because I didnt want people like you to apply in the first place. | You didn't mention how the design docs would be created because you don't want people like us to join? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. No one with industry experience would have bothered answering your ridiculous request for help with your lack of information. You should get off your high horses and at least admit that you don't know shit about how to ask for help in a way that gets skillful people interested. Post something like this in the GDNet 'Help Wanted' forum and you'll be flamed to hell.

So if you want a job great, if not go somewhere else. | Either you have one hell of a paycheck (140k USD/month? I think not.), or you have no clue what you're talking about. Take a look at this (from the Game Developer Magazine salary survey):
Quote: | * The average game programmer salary is $66,000.
* A technical director with 6 or more years experience earns an average of $104,000.
* Game artists earn an average of $61,000.
* A game designer with one year of experience earns an average of $52,000, with the highest salary reported at $300,000.
* Game producers earn an average of $76,000. |

Gee, the big scary carpenter's verbal skills suck, so he'll let the fists talk. _________________ http://www.weeaboo.se

I dont care what third world country your from and if youll correct my grammer or not. Its simple you either apply or dont and I seriously doubt that YOU make anywhere near 66000 a year. All I wanted to do was pay someone to make me a good 2d rpg engine so I wouldnt have to deal with a whole bunch of fags who sit around jerking each other off all day. Luckily enough I did find a cool enough programmer to do this for me who is a tight ass like most of you. However if I hadnt then I probly would have just went on to use and rpgmaker because Id rather due my civic duty and shoot myself in the head then deal with people as winy and bitchy as you :-)
Sincerely,

You stated that you could "easilly afford anyone interested with half of one of my paychecks" (that should be 'easily', moron), and I just wanted to help you get rid of your misconceptions. People keep waving their big paychecks around under peoples noses seriously annoy me.

Since when did you have to be a fag to jerk each other off? Or are you saying all the people who aren't getting paid to develop 2d RPG engines are a bunch of homosexuals?
I'm not. However, I would gladly jerk someone else off if I was adequately paid. Was that your point, feeling left out?
