Codenamed because the real name might change. Anyways, this is a platformer RPG for the PC Engine, which is scheduled to be completed this summer. This is the project I was looking for a pixel artist for but never found. Josiah pitched in as much as he could and drew up a main character sprite really quickly, so at least there's that. *Almost* all of the rest of the pixels were done by myself (the Guard sprite is Enterbrain's and the pillars come from an RMXP tileset). Anyways, screenshots to follow... if they don't appear, then it's because our DNS servers are down again... they've been flaky all morning. :(

Doubled in size to show detail. Normal game resolution is 256x224.

No news lately; since work on MSR has resumed, I've had to put this one aside for the moment. After MSR is completed at long last, this one goes back to the front of the line. We should be finished with MSR at the end of this month, provided no more surprises pop up.

Speaking of which... here's a gameplay video of MSR.

EDIT: Oh, and some new screenshots too:

Note that these are actual screenshots, not mockups.

Wow. MSR is looking pretty sharp these days, too. Impressive!

"Spear equipped Long Sword." Heh.

Okay, please tell me you're not going to get thrown into a random encounter every five steps in the finished game.

The code for most areas looks like this:

Code:
tillnextbattle = random(20) + 10;

but in some places, it's this:

Code:
tillnextbattle = random(20) + 30;

so battles aren't so annoyingly frequent. Also, the caves in the game stop having random battles once certain requirements are met... very useful if you want to go back to the Isle Of Dragons after getting strong enough in the tower to actually go hunt those death machines. The world map always has battles, as does the tower.

I got the chance to do a prototype video of Monolith. Here y'all go:

Still very early in the production though... all focus shifted to MSR awhile back, but since it's slowed to a crawl again, I was able to pick up Monolith again.

Since MSR has been completed, work on this has resumed. Here's a recent screenshot:

and a couple of mockups based on actual tile art that will eventually go into the game:

I've started working with the Dark Castle tileset above; a new video which features both the town of Normandor (as shown in the first image) plus a new test stage which will be built on the Dark Castle tileset will be uploaded to youtube in the next couple of days. The forest tileset is relatively complex, and the mapper for that area is a split-zone type, and uses some heavy hardware trickery to pull off its visual magic so it'll be a few days before that gets any serious work.
