Yep, the game is done.

Saldy, I wasn't able to add the music and sound effects (Shame too, 'cause I really like the music I composed for this game)... but it was either release it silent, or get too annoyed to bother, and not release it at all.

Oh yeah, you can grab it here. Let me know what you think.

I have to be off to classes pretty soon, so I can't test it now, but did you fix that keyboard handler?

Solar: thanks. Glad you liked it.

Ninkazu: well, since there was no keyboardhandler in the compo build (didn't have time to add one, said so in the readme), there really wasn't one to 'fix' :p ...but yes, there is one present in the final version.

I must say, this is possibly the nicest qb rpg i've EVER played... considering it's made in 48 hours makes it even better. as stated before (by darkdread and ninkazu) the battle background looks like stretched tiles, but it reminds me of final fantasy 4 when your in an airship or ff6 when your on a chocobo (i haven't gotten an airship in ff6 yet). this game is awesome. I especially like the ability to see what an item can do in an independant window. my only complaint is in the menu: the limited amount of items you can carry, and i always mix up exit and quit.

oh yeah, the magic animation is very smooth!!!

Well, last night, I busted out Virtual PC on my Mac to play your game, DarkDread, and for some reason, the keyboard control was completely uncontrollable for me. I managed to play the version you put up after the Compo, but this one is inaccessible to me. :(

It *appears* that the keyboard polling through Virtual PC happens much more quickly than expected, because I could sometimes move the cursor, but it would happen a very long time after I hit the key, and sometimes never at all. At first, I thought it was because it was slow to receive keydowns, but once I got into the game, barely tapping the key would zing me across the map at uncontrollable speed. I think what's happening is that it fills up the keyboad buffer very quickly, and gets "pegged" full somehow. Or something - whatever it is, it's handling key checking differently than most PC apps.

Just thought I would mention it in case you care, or if it rings a bell that would allow you to make a tweak. It was a fun game in the compo version, so I'm glad to see you've finished it. If I can find a PC to play it on, I'll check it out.

Heh, well, you got further with it on your mac, than I ever could running dosemu under linux. There's something about that keyhandler that doesn't translate well to virtual machines. I wish I knew how to fix it, but alas, I do not... and I have been unable as of yet, to find a more efficent keyhandler... sigh.
