If you *really* love QB, why not migrate to a more recent compiler/language combo so you can write a modern QB compiler that will eliminate the ugly mess that is the 640k barrier, 16bit code/optimization, segment:offset memory model, and necessity of evil things like EMS/XMS memory managers :)

How do owning guns have anything to do with QB?
Honestly, I agree. QBasic compilers should be freeware. There are plenty of free C compilers and assemblers out there, and QB 1.1 is free anyway. To keep it from us when Gates makes no money from it anyway is just wrong. We should do something aboot this.

I agree with Sirocco. If you love it so much, write one yourself. Hell, make it a scripting language for other games to use, like LUA. For as much effort as you are putting into getting sigs for a "PETTAitNeOn", you could write an interpretor.

Yes there are free C compilers written, by a handfull of devout coders who want it free. Write one yourself. These people did not demand Bill gates to release MSVC++ for free, they made their own compilers.
btw, there are tons of free compilers out there that are BASIC and BASIC like, just not your QBasic. I say learn another language. Python is excellent if C scares you.
