I became acquainted with the C-64 laptop recently. I like the colors. There are also some really good. This app would be great if it had 1) layers 2) 16 colors, with the ability to choose the colors used. Resize would also be nice.

I think you could get some revenue if you put ads on that page. I'll look up a good advertising service for you.

The main issue with colors is that you are restricted with where you can place different colors and I don't think that it is worth it.

Layers serve no purpose for this.

Resizing is not useful either. Sprites are only allowed to be one size.
There are HW bits on the C-64 that can be set to scale on the X or Y or both axes, but supporting that in the editor isn't needed since the image itself does not change in any way. The sprite stays the same size. Its just drawn differently depending on the VIC-II chip configuration that the programmer sets up.

As for the ads thing; I have had less than 100 visitors to that page, and way less repeat visitors.
Its pointless to place ads on a page that no one sees.

Well there are people who appreciate the c-64 classic palette. They might use it if you added colors. I think your audience is too narrow....

Layers are always useful because they allow you to draw overtop of things without erasing them and having to redraw them. I think you should lose the Commodore stuff and make this a generic sprite/tile editor, like what we were doing with Worldyne. The Commodore had horrible resolution.

On the other hand, I concede that there's not much reason for a person to go to your site just to use an editor. They'd more likely want to put it on their own site. You could charge for that, but then someone would offer a freeware offering....

Where are you looking for work?

I created the tool for my own use and for my artist to learn about the C-64 sprites. I released it in case anyone else would like to check it out.

losing the commodore stuff negates the entire purpose.
I never wanted to create a generic editor. there are already too damn many editors in existence. Its pointless to create another.

I know damn well what layers are good for. They are not useful for this editor though, and as such will not be implemented.

Again I never intended for any large following.
The project was strictly to give myself and my artist an easy way to create commodore sprites for my own personal use.
