They dont look the same...
The GBA resolution is less than Snes.
Anyone out there besides me that emulates japanese hockeygames for NES on your VisualGameBoy? Looks quite funky with scaled sprites! _________________

Dude, the GBA res is NOT less than snes, just proportioned diffrently since it uses a wide-screen style. _________________ "Well, last time I flicked on a lighter, I'm pretty sure I didn't create a black hole."-

Erm... call me an idiot but.... I believe the GBA resolution is less than the SNES's resolution...
SNES: 512 x 448
GBA: 240 x 160
Heh... I always thought the SNES max resolution was 256x256 or something similar... needless to say I was quite shocked when I looked up the official specs.
Edit: Well.... of course the SNES can only display 256 colours simultaneously while the GBA can display more depending on the video mode set. Meh. _________________ RPG-Dev.net

Ah, thanks for clearing that up Fling-master.
When visiting nintendo.com with Epiphany (Gecko engine), the site exclaims "Viewing this site requires at least Netscape 6.2, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, or Safari 1.0." Luckily, I can still enter nintendo.com, through I have to agree to the fact that the page might not be optimal. Indeed, the systems page doesn't load at all... :-/
About the SNES though, were most of the games just not using the maximum resolution? Where there any?

Yeah... most games seemed to only use 256x256 or something similar to that... I don't know of any SNES games that ran in 512x448. Meh. _________________ RPG-Dev.net

Yeah the GBA screen is pretty small, which is why all the SNES-ports look a little more "cluttered."
As for the SNES, I believe Tenchi Sozo/ Terranigma used higher res for the jazzy continent-unlocking scenese. Also, I think it's possible that Dezaemon used a high-res mode for copying map data from the clipboard to the stage. Either that or it used extensive and well-done scaling. Maybe both.
99% of SNES games used 256x224. A few games used the higher res modes, but it was pretty much as a gimmick to create a few nice looking but static screenshots for advertising purposes.
