Yeah, I'd have to agree. If you want to create a language that is easy to pick up, look at Lua and Python. Either way, though, non-programmers don't want to use programming languages. If you want to make it easy for them to make games, work on creating an object interface that has icons that represent programming concepts, that you can layout into an outline style graph to represent concepts and flow of information and control.
I think authorware tried to do this- it was kinda of crappy and hard to figure out IMHO, but then again I'm a programmer, and I can't think like a non-programmer. _________________ "Well, last time I flicked on a lighter, I'm pretty sure I didn't create a black hole."-

No tool will ever let a non-programmer program effectively, just as no tool will ever let a non-artist paint effectively. The ability to conceptualize the flow of a computer program as a tree of fundamental instructions is something you either have or don't have, just like the ability to visualize a painting as a sequence of brush strokes. A person who can program effectively, with any tool, is by definition a programmer, and is capable of programming in any programming language with some training.

I agree entirely- tools don't make the skill, the skill makes the best use of the tools.
Still, Authoreware's interface is a pain in the ass. _________________ "Well, last time I flicked on a lighter, I'm pretty sure I didn't create a black hole."-

I hate to admit it, but you guys are speaking the truth. There is no substitute for skill. Mandrake, you have a good idea suggesting that I make an object-oriented system. I've given it some thought. Right now I need to get my priorities in order. I need money, and a job, most of all. I also need to finish the Microsoft Certified Systems Admin test track... it's been a year since I started. I feel torn between these dreams of mine that seem unrealizable, and may be unrealizable, and the responsibility of reality. I just feel that if I give up these dreams, the mundaneity of reality will be too much. :P

Dyne is done. Please read my comments on it on my journal.
I feel my dreams are realizable now. I feel everyone's dreams are realizable. I want to help everyone live their dreams.

Sorry, I didn't read this until yet.
Ideas, visions, dreams need space to grow. A job, money is important. But don't get into the treadmill, keep your freedom and give your imagination a good place in your life.

Thanks Hajo. I appreciate that.
Would you like to help me betatest Dyne?

I must admit, most likely not. I know, this sounds harsh, Dyne is your creation, you put a part of yourself in this project, and now the first one whom you ask, says he's not interested.
I don't want to hurt you. Really. But it would be wrong to do it just because I think it's impolite to say no.
Mandrake asked me in a PM if I want to write a article for an ezine. I also said 'no'. So it's not you or your project, but it's me and my current situation that produce so much 'no's.
I've just retired from a project that I worked 7 years for. I've sent a lot of people away. I destroyed things that were very valuable for me for a long time, and now are just weights, tearing me down. Finally I felt like having wasted 7 years of my life all for nothing.
My advice to keep your freedom came from that bitter experience.
I just start to recognize my new freedom.
I'm sorry, I'm not ready to help you yet :(

I understand completely. But I would like to stress to you, that Dyne is a tool to help you reach more freedom for yourself and others. I will carry on the betatesting without you, but remember that there is a future in Dyne.
