That's a matter of fact, not opinion.

Do you even know what "economic growth" is? I'd suggest you go read a couple of books on economics... they're quite boring, but I guess you seem to have an interest in the topic, so that might help *shrug* _________________ www.mattiasgustavsson.com - My blog

Barter is an exchange of value.
Money is a vehicle for exchange of value. It's an abstraction that simplifies and streamlines the process *greatly*, but it also comes with its own baggage.

And that was kinda my point - "Free" means a lot of things. Just because some software bypasses traditional methods of generating monetary revenue does not mean that value is not exchanged, and that economic growth (on a small scale) doesn't take place. In business (from my admittedly limited perspective of more of the small business side of things), a lot of the negotiating points in many deals have nothing to do with money changing hands. But I wouldn't say there's anything "Free" about it - it's more of the "let's codify what we mean by scratching each other's backs."
It's how business gets done, and how the economy grows bit by bit. _________________ Tales of the Rampant Coyote - Old-School Game Developer talks Indie Games, RPGs, and the Games Biz

Money just refined the task of bartering, by offering an easy to carry, commonly accepted token of defined value.
