See the news post on rpgdx.net. We lost about 50 forum posts, and I hope they can be restored. But I'm pretty sure I can't restore them without removing any new ones that get posted now.
Any remarks about the situation are welcome.

That is a tough choice. Get rid of any new, or loose the old? I would suggest if it only takes a little bit of time that no one post until it’s set back. Or not post anything that is something you want to keep. If there is anything I can do to help, give me a ring. _________________ "Well, last time I flicked on a lighter, I'm pretty sure I didn't create a black hole."-

Damn that sucks. There were new things in Convention that I would have liked to keep... Can your host give the MYI/MYD to you files from the backup? We can get the data we need from those... _________________ We are on the outer reaches of someone else's universe.

Something went wrong there in the copying process for the Wiki. I've fixed it now.
I don't have a backup of the lost posts myself, still waiting for Aral Balkan to give me information about whether this is obtainable. I've decided that I won't be putting back the old database once it might be recovered though. If I get a copy of the previous database, I'll try to host it on my server so you can take a look at what you might want to bring up again over here.
Aral Balkan didn't tell me about the server move because it was meant to be transparant. But in addition to things taking a bit longer than expected, rpgdx.net is not set to use his nameserver and instead just routes to his IP. This makes a server move not transparent at all as I had to update the IP to the new location. I had decided to just use the existing nameservers coming with the domain, I think because they charge a fee for changing them.
On the positive side, Aral Balkan told me the new server should be much faster and stable, and that he wasn't planning on another server move in the foreseeable future.

I guess it doesn't matter much. A momentary bump in the road.
...Maybe a daily archival of the most recent post to an indexing system could help! :D

Daily database backups would certainly have helped. If I can figure out how to have that done automatically, that'll be something I should probably be setting up.
I sometimes download a complete backup at the moment, but that's a 122 MB archive, which I won't consider doing dayly. Would increase our monthly bandwidth by about 300%. :-)

i dont think you need to worry about it, people can repost their posts, and if they can't remember them.. well.. it wasn't that important =)
