Hey, does anyone know what happened to rpg-dev.net? It seems to have been inaccessible for about a week so far.

That's weird, since I can't access it, and externally linked images from rpg-dev.net on other pages don't work either. DNS problems, I guess.

You know, bot XMark and Josiah are in BC... Could be an ISP thing up there. Hope it isn't like this

A trend towards international borders on the net is a scary thing...

Josiah, are you on shaw@home also?

EDIT: strange, I can visit the site from school's internet connection.

Yep, I'm on shaw.
Still odd, though. I'll try to see if I can access it from another computer (all the computers in the house are networked, and since I hardly leave the house it'll take awhile =p)

yep, traffic at rpg-dev.net is at a minimum.

First thing i think of is an rpg contest, but rpgdx always makes one right before we say that we're making one, or people don't really finish their rpg's their working on.

RPG-Dev.net seems to have a fair number of people that read the posts, but not many people posting.

:) Trying to help in any way I can...
Once I get my engine completed, I'll be releasing it*

I'll still hold all copyrights, and it can only be used for non-profit applications, but hey, it will be fun for lots of people, I think.
I'm rewriting the engine from the ground up, because the current base code is terrible.

Once it is done, it will feature:

- smooth scrolling
- animated sprites
- midi and mod music support
- wav sound support
- fmv video support
- cpu independent timing (yay! finally!)
- and either lua, python, ot Tcl as the scripting language.

Tools that will also be available:

- DreamMap II - game world editor
-- general map editor
-- game content "database" (not a true DB, but very simple DB for this engine)
-- visual (drag/drop) game script editor (This is a big project)
-- text game script editor (for advanced scripting)

Okay, well... I've got an engine to work on. :)

This contest was the last season based one we plan to do for now though, I talked about that with whitedoor and we agreed that we need to be doing something different. Next one will be in about 3 months I think, but we'll keep it short and focussed. I'm sure there is room for another one.
