Doesn't really matter. His best times are far in the past. There are plenty of people to take over.

I guess I'd agree a bit. He seems to have hit his peak at FF6. Most of FF7's music is pretty forgettable (except for a couple songs here and there like the overworld theme) and the other games afterwards he worked with other musicians.

Yeah, its amazing how the quality tends to drop off when you up the quantity from 30-40 tracks per game to over 100.

Final Fantasy is dead anyway- I'd rather see him take on some new projects.

You are, without a doubt, insane.

Final Fantasy will never die.

I honestly stopped caring somewhere around halfway through VII, and although I listen to the VII tunes occasionally, VIII's were mostly forgettable, along with 9, 10 and whatever else happened after that.

FFVI would seem to be the pinnacle of his work for the series, and I'm glad to see him make a clean break and free himself to work on other projects without having to babysit the FF franchise through its slow, CG-laden demise.

That's really too bad, (came as a bit of a shock to me) but i guess it's for the better. Maybe now that he can work at his own pace he can make better quality music. Plus maybe we will hear his music in more games than square enix games.

I really enjoyed the music in 9 and 10. I didn't really care for 8, but the last two were quite enjoyable.

I don't know how much of the music from 8 he composed - but I think if you listen to it (like, really listen to it, again and again), it's probably his best work. It's my favorite soundtrack anyway.

I love all his music actually, but I don't remember being too impressed with 9.

Qu's Marsh was, quite possibly, one of the best songs ever. And the Cleyra Stem music was also rather haunting/enchanting. The game is (apparently only for me) riddled with fantastic music like that.

I agree- 9 (and I am playing it right now actuall) has some of the best music in teh FF series. Esp the opening theme. From the first note you *knew* what kind of game you were playing.
