Just a song of mine... Sort of hard industrial metal, or whatever you wanna call it. Vocals by a friend of mine who goes by 'Cheese'-- Sort of a love it or hate it style, personally I love it... Harsh, atonal screaming-- you've been warned. :P
Download here!
Lyrics:
Code: | living is an art and fuck, I'm no artist
but you never really knew because you never really heard it
all the things I am, and all the thing's I'm not
I failed at life becuase I couldn't be bought
living is an art; you know that I'm no artist
but the ones who never learned it are the ones who get the farthest
the machines that made me are machines that gave me
the power to live, and the power to write my life
write this life
they dismissed me
they despised me
they just threw me
down the chute to die
brain was fractured
manufactured
with a flaw
that let me be creative?
couldn't learn to read without my will to see
couldn't learn to scream without my will to breathe
couldn't learn to do without my will to try
couldn't learn to live without my defective--
MIND your business, nothing to give
your stupid facade and the life you live
I'm living my chance, you've wasted yours
I love what I do because I'm so off course
comedy I'm comedy you're comedy but you don't see
the humor's there, what can you do, I choose to use it, why don't you?
you think you've got a message but we know it's all contrived
I've got a message based around your message based on lies
'music for the media', 'faces for the media'
I'm sick of the disguises that you think you have to wear
controversy feeding ya, something you don't have called a...
SOUL!
can you see through my eyes now
don't know why you live or how
something's wrong with you inside
while I live, you sit and cry
I-- see through your minds
you-- you and your kind
on the outside you're there, and they think that you care
but on the inside? fake and blind
living is an art and well, I'm no artist
but it's you who gets the farthest and it's us who try the hardest
all the useless defects, the broken minds
will rise up one day and change the times
but it's time to stop speaking metaphorical words
stop preaching bout the sheppard and his mindless herd
just thought I'd share my thoughts on this society
the backwards life that I used to lead
I'm free |
Enjoy.

Aw c'mon... Not that I'm defending anyone here but I'd rather my thread not be taken over by more LG bashing... :p

Sorry. My bad. Normally I don't even post in the music forum, not being a musician and all, but bandwidth theft really bugs me when it's from people I respect. I'll take it off-list if I have any more to say about it. _________________ Visit the Sacraments web site to play the game and read articles about its development.

What you don't understand, is that you're in the middle of a values clash. Progressive people (that's the socionics bunch) vs. conservative people like yourself.
Socionics people are smart enough to acknowledge reality when it hits them in the face. Now, that's not the topic of this thread, so take your socionics bashing elsewhere.

NNK, it's called "art"...unlike that silly book, although it is sorta artistic too (smashing babies against rocks is artistic, if you like red tones anyways). _________________ If you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. I like the way this song goes. The time changes and the different phases that the rhythm goes through keep it interesting.
My only complaints are the guitar tone seems kinda thin (or maybe that's a deliberate style choice) and the vocals seem mixed too low, with way too much reverb. With some better mixing, this song could have some real gut-wrenching heaviness. _________________ Mark Hall

I usually don't like this kinda music to be honest, but I think you've made a really terific job of this. You kinda get into it really quickly once you listen to it for a while! _________________ http://www.distractionware.com

XMark: Thanks. I agree I mixed the vocals too far back, going to remedy that for the final verion and bring them right up front like they initially were. Though... Too much reverb? I don't believe I put any reverb on the vocals, except for maybe the bit at the end...
EDIT: And yeah, for the most part the thin, fuzzy guitar tone was intentional, though I plan to layer a much thicker-sounding take over it for the final version. ('real' guitar over looped/sampled guitar always sounds neat, I think)
