Sort of a semi-ambient/orchestral piece.
I've been working on this one for almost a week now. I suppose it's not 'true' ambient music, as it has a kind of quiet industrial tinge in the beginning-- But it slowly builds to full-on, plodding orchestration near the end.
Here's the link:
http://fileanchor.com/18956-d

It's intended to paint a sort of scene/imagine in the listener's mind... This is sort of what I pictured. More of a strange story, really, but it was quite vivid for me.

(0:00)Waking up in the cold, metallic interior of a small submarine...
(1:09) Getting up, walking over to the nearest porthole, and looking out-- dark swells vaguely resembling hills and valleys, peppered with tiny forests of undersea vegetation here and there. The water is murky-- Or maybe it's just the glass-- And the submarine's lights don't penetrate far. It continues to drift onwards...
(2:41)Approaching a particularly large hill. It's now all you can see through the tiny porthole, blotting out everything that might be beyond it. Slowly, the craft rises over the obstacle, slowly revealing...
(3:16)...What appears to be a massive ruin. Rusted metal shapes jut up out of the ocean floor here and there, collapsed structures that could have once had some kind of vague purpose. A huge rusty screw catches your attention, lying half-buried in your line of sight. The submarine passes it, calmly drifting over the strange seascape.
(4:06)Light pours down in shafts from above. The surface is close now; ascention is inevitable as the ground slopes upwards, towards the not-yet visible sky. The tiny porthole you stare through seems to consume your vision; soon, it seems as if you are merely floating, without a body, in the great expanse of water.
(4:52)Glancing down at the strange ruins, you notice movement-- Old rusted gears begin to creak into motion, screws begin to turn... The mezmerising sight wholly captures your attention. And then...
(5:38 )...Nothing more; you break the surface of the water. There is nothing around you for as long as you can see-- only water, endless stretches of ocean. The opaque surface calmly ripples beneath you, completely opaque... Hiding everything below. The sun shines brilliantly, reflecting upon the water-- though much of its light is lost in a subtle mist that follows everything, seemingly clinging to the water as it stretches past the horizon. Spots begin to flicker over your vision like film grain from an old movie... Far in the distance, you catch sight of a tower, mysteriously jutting straight up out of the water. The scene loses its color and fades to a gentle monotone brown... You feel yourself being pulled from the scene.
(6:02)Slowly, you turn away and walk out of the presentation room, stepping out into bright sunlight. One foot upon the asphalt... Walk home.

All sampled by me. The song is called SeaScape.

Sounds pretty good; does not entirely put me in mind of a "seascape" (at least, in the traditional sense of that word), but I do get the impression of a cavernous area. Actually, it reminds me more of the music used in the cave levels in Donkey Kong Country 2.

Yep, the 'scene' was pretty much just what I pictured-- Didn't really expect everyone to get the same image. :p
