I've released an alpha build of my FPS, Two Lords. It contains the first episode (of three) of the game. It should be fully functional but it does have a few known bugs in it (explained in the readme file). Anyways, here it is:
http://www.nodtveidt.net/tla.exe
If it crashes for ya, run it in compatibility mode for Win98/ME and this seems to fix it.
For those who don't know...Two Lords is a raycaster-based FPS similar to Wolf3D. Unlike most FPS games of both the past and present, Two Lords has a deep-rooted storyline to back up its action. I guess this is what happens when an RPG fanatic writes an FPS. :)
There will be a "proper" 3D version made of this game later on. For now though, give this retro-style version a try and see if ya like it. _________________ If you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. Maybe for those without Windows, you could show some screenshots?

Sure thing...some of these are a little out-of-date (the 320x200 images are old) but the game still looks the same.

Alright, that looks pretty neat. Somehow I had thought a raycaster based engine would look a bit nicer than Wolf3D though, but I discovered I mixed up ray casting with ray tracing. Anyway, your engine does seem to have an edge over Wolf3D. :-)

It's not supposed to be Quake 4, just a simple, old-school type of FPS. _________________ If you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. The scary part is that if you play it forwards it installs Windows. - wallace

I'll take old-school types of FPS over Quake 4 anyday. But I like pixels. _________________
