you guys probably know about these but with the years i found a lot of cool free programs/utilities that i found useful

part244: can format any partition real fast.. i use it to format XP or linux partitions no problem.
ccleaner: can clean your pc real fast
DaemonTools:CD/games emulation if you don't wanna scratch your original CDs
dyndns:url for a dynamic ip
Dosbox:real dos emulation with sound already configured, best of all you can play ipx games over tcp/ip..play death rally that way and get my ass kicked everytime.
cygwin:unix emulation, i've used it to program for linux.
virtual pc:got win98SE emulated, quite cool..
Dirlister:made lists of my files, cds and stuff..
wosportable: install apache web server with php and mysql in a minute under your usb so you can work anywhere no bullshit :P

if you guys know more cool stuff that i would like feel free to add stuff :P

VisualBoy Advance: GameBoy emulator.
Project64: N64 emulator (the best one).
ZSNES: SNES emulator (also the best).

Yes, I have a thing for classic-system emulators.

Modplug Tracker and Character Maker/Mucker 1999 (strangely completely unrelated to any sort of 'maker...' just a really good pixel art program) are the two big ones for me.

I often use Microsoft GIF Animator for creating animated GIFs
I've also started playing with XNA through Visual Studio Express
