Okay, I've received enough information to tell me that I need to make my project in C or FreeBasic. I'd really like C/C++. However, I don't know how to use it effectively (I only know the format, not the language). So, here's what I propose. Since my game is coming along great in QB so far (despite no ASM routines yet), would anyone be interested in coming together to make this project a reality? I would code the game in QB to get the base foundation of it, and then have you just translate the QB code to C/C++. I'm using C/C++ style programming with my code and trying to get the most out of QB. Of course everyone helping would get credit. I'm also thinking about commercializing it in which all who helped out would receive some % of the profits if it sells. I'd commercialize it because the way the game is developed allows users to build their own RPG out of it without a lot of restrictions. User-made graphics, magic spells, dialog, and if they spent time on it, could look like a great 2D RPG.

Anyway, any helpers? I don't have a lot of code to transfer and at this point, it's not the best coding methods. But when I finish the base, then we can get somewhere. What do ya say?

If you're presently coding it in QB, it would be far easier to bring it to FB rather than C or C++. Just some foresight for ya.

Well, since my attempt to start an RPG in QB never took off,http://forums.rpgdx.net/viewtopic.php?t=1812
I think I can cool with this idea.

I know to use C++ with SDL... and have created a small 2d-space shooter. Not that space shooters have much in common with RPG's.. hehe...

But if u want some help, I am in... :)

Cool thanks! I'm going to keep started on my project. I actually stopped programming for a while just because I was trying to use VC++ Express and Allegro and DirectX SDK, and I just realized that I can't just port it over as simple as that and continue programming in VC. I will keep on the progress. With work it may be a little difficult to get some time, but I'll do what I can. As soon as possible. I'm currently modeling a the main character right now but it's getting tough to build his face and body. oh well. I'll get back to programming work.

Cool

I am not really comfy with Allegro, since I have been using SDL more often.

Do let me know when you want me to start on this.

Progress is coming along great. I'm writing asm fade & pixel routines for a library. I'm also setting up the locations for all the text messages. I have generic screenshots of what to expect at this moment. I also came across some great freeware asm MIDI loading/playing/stop codes for windows. I'm going to have to convert the code for a DOS background.

Check the project out and I'll keep in touch soon. I'm trying to get this project done as soon as possible. I just scrapped my old sprites and redesigning a better looking one (also on the project page).

I'm still thinking about making it sole QB since I have some MIDI and graphics routines in assembly, but I still want the idea of porting it for faster run-times.
