Hi! I'm new to RPGDX, but you might know me as Craig Stern from the TIGS forums. Now then, I understand that this is the place to let folks know about your upcoming games--here's mine.

Telepath Psy Arena 2 is a strategy RPG featuring relatively small, Shining Force-style battles and a marketplace where you recruit your force. There are currently 12 unique unit types to choose from with different strengths and weaknesses, and a roster of 40 unique enemy types to fight against.

Your characters gain experience by using their attacks, though they can also be trained in areas of your choosing and taught new attacks.

You can fight in entirely randomly-generated battles, or you can match your wits against the 40 hand-crafted battles currently in the game (this will be 80 by the time it's done).

A free online demo, updated regularly, is available here:

The finished game will most likely be sold as a download for $15.

I welcome your comments! :) Don't be shy, now.

Shining Force... that could be used in an MMORPG.

I sorta dislike the overhead view. Even Warcraft 2 had a top down view. This was, of course, a departure from Warcraft 1's perspective, but there was a reason for it.

A word of advice: hire a writer and a character designer if you're going to put out an RPG. It'll be the difference between an also-ran and a successful game.

Or who knows, you could be modestly successful even without them, but your target audience will shrink.

Malignus: Looks like a start of a pretty cool game. :) Goodluck with it!

I disagree. Much better to learn how to do those things yourself. And you'll probably have more fun too.

Looks like a nice game (I love top-down games).

Hey Lord Galbalan, thanks for the feedback. There's a reason for the top-down view here as well: it allows the player to quickly and correctly judge distances without the annoying "camera problems" that seem to accompany almost every isometric strategy RPG (to name two examples: Disgaea and FF Tactics).

I don't mind the overhead. Looks like a great game! I loved the old Shining force series!

I made mention of it in my (supposedly) monthly indie RPG roundup that went out today.

Hey, cool--thanks! :)

I just updated the game a few seconds ago with a neat little ability for your healers: you can create barriers on the battlefield that enemies have to destroy to get past. It's called Solid State Shield, and it's the fifth attack healer units can learn through training.

Ah, cool - a good defensive power then. Nifty. I look forward to seeing how this one pans out!

The game has been updated with lovely full color character portraits; two new arenas for randomized battles; and all battles up to the start of League 7 completed.

Hey, thanks! If you like Chapter 1, I bet you'll love the later stuff. Chapter 1 for me is like one of those things you made as a kid where you look back on it and say, "Wow, that was pretty bad." :)

I've got a question for you Malignus.

do the enemies get stronger as you get stronger? (so there is no way to just level up and overtake them)

I'm currently at the shadowling camp and fighting, sleeping, repeat, building up my cashflow so that I can go to the trainers at the academy to levelup my stuff...
I've also bought one of the books to learn pyroblast.

again, this is such a great game! I can't wait to see the others when I finish this one! :)

Yes, they do. They never deal more damage (if I remember correctly), but their total health increases somewhat in proportion to your Psy Power.
