Over here http://forums.rpgdx.net/viewtopic.php?t=2289 DeveloperX told about his woes as game designer, and that he ponders about moving on, looking for new challenges, maybe being a teacher, rather.

I also had to conclude at some point, that I'm not a game designer, but still very interested in game design. All I have created are tech demos, or were remixes of other peoples designs.

Actually I started to collect rpg game design articles some years ago, mostly for my own interest, but soon started to publish them as I got permission of the authors, with the plan of building a library. Now, a few years later it has grown into a nice collection of rpg design and development related articles, ideas, design snippets and brainstorming lists:

I haven't become teacher, but compiler and archivar, also it's still a hobby and not my profession. But it might show that from the wish to be a game designer, there are many ways to move onward, without leaving the field. DeveloperX' writing reminded me of it, and so I decided to announce my library here.

I hope you can draw something useful from it. Don't expect too much, please, the library has articles of vastly differing style, different depth and different approaches to topics. It's not a tutorial collection, but a treasure box for the rpg interested explorer type. In this sense, happy exploring :)

A recent discussion in another forum made me I rewrite the article "Toy or Game":

One of the more interesting additions to the library - a short article on how to introduce new game elements to the player:
