I go off (in a good way) on Din's Curse:

Game Announcement: Din's Curse

Its predecessor, Depths of Peril, is not only one of my all-time favorite indie RPG, but one of my favorite RPGs, period. This one looks to exceed it in almost every way. (The faction-based strategy game is, alas, gone --- but a lot of people didn't like it, anyway).

The winning factor for me is the dynamic world and event system. The world feels alive. Things progress in the game. Things MOVE. Monsters fight each other, become bosses. The evil overlord laboring away with his evil plans WILL eventually succeed if you don't put a stop to it. Major NPCs may die, new ones may or may not appear (if you can go and retrieve 'em). There's a whirlwind of stuff going on all the time that I hope, as I get better, I will be able to keep on top of. And your quests seem to just represent the current state of the world. Every town has a new, unique story.

Sorry, I'm gushing again. Maybe I'll calm down once I have another ten or twenty hours of this game under my belt, but I'm pretty excited.
