I've just started back on my game ( after getting into the swing of college) and It occurs to me that I will have to make female version of monsters. for some monsters this is not a problem but for the "human-crossbreeds" it would seem to me that becaues they're monsters they typically would not wear clothes over "the naughy bits" for certain parts they would natually coverd (just like dogs and cats) but for say Breasts they would not be coverd naturally...this brings up the question should I go on with making the "naughty parts" or should I just do the whole "little mermaid and her magical shellfish bra thing"

We are talking in terms of ruining the atmosphere and stuff by giving little fifi the goblin chick and ifif the goblin dude clothes (thought that is obviouly the best thing because I personally don't want to see that thing but I still want the distintion between monster and character)

I don't know maybe I'm blowing this all out of proportion but that is why I came here becaue I feel that this affects us all (and our "art")

- If they gotta be nude they gotta be nude. Doing it for a more convincing atmosphere is much different than doing it for nudity's sake [e.g: Tecmo "Team Ninja" (Dead or Alive: Extreme Beach Volleyball)].

- Check out "Shadow Hearts" on the PS2. It's some kind of goth RPG where they had stuff like that in there ( lots of phallic objects on monsters, too... O.o ).

or, if you don't want to go all the way, perhaps go the "featureless nudity" route.

I say go for the nudity. I hate games hiding nudity just for the sake of hiding the nudity. :-)

Bjorn is right, I don't agree abusive sensure too, nudity and erotism is a part of art, just look at old masterpieces... but pornography is another thing. I hate it.

so basically the general agreement is "go for it", but considering I want to perhapse sell this game I will probably go with the "featureless way" that xmark suggested...not for the sake of the players but more for my sake of getting my butt sued by some hyperactive mother.

Yeah ^_^, I agree... but in general, male nudity is less accepted, and sometime controversial here in occident! It must be used carefully. This is always the same problem between guys and womens...

Featurless nudity... at least I hope that nudity will be disabled by default... else, it would be useless, a kid will not try to turn it off and parents will not wait to find where is the switch... they will automaticaly classify this game as an insanity.

what I ment by featureless is that

take Shiva in FFX( I think its FFX at least)

she is technically nude but there are no nipples and no other such "nauhgty bits" exactly shown but you know that they are there,

I'm not sure how this would work with male anatomy yet....

...although this seems like just making more work for myself by including such things (both modeling wise (the game is 3D after all, and I am essentally alone in its creation), and other things I have yet to forsee)

I might just ditch the whole "nudity" thing and focus my creative powers on other subjects.

...here's something to go along with the 'featureless nudity'... you can have the creatures nude... but whatever direction they're facing, and whatever their aniamtions maybe... have some limb obstruct the actual naughty bits. This way, you're not comprimising... and you're also less likely to have any problems with 'hyperactive mothers'. Just a thought.

yes I gave that thought but that is exaclty what I was refering to when I said "more work" ....normally I would just say "skrew them all" but I don't think that that is the solution to this :(
