Saw the extension and realized I have time to do this! So, I'm gonna do this.

It is not so much going to be an RPG as a choose-your-own-adventure dressed up in the trappings of an RPG -- hopefully it's close enough anyway!

The story is that our hero has a machine that is powered by regret, and he uses it to explore alternate histories ...

Version log here:
http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/~jima/ifonly/ ... but nothing really to see yet -- just a very basic engine so far. and a tiny bit of story that goes nowhere good.

Guard, Definitely Guard. :)

I used to have a lot of fun with choose your own adventures. It's neat to see rpg/adventures molded around that concept.

Since his machine is powered by regret, does it mean that every choice he makes changing history has to be a bad one that he regrets, in order to keep using the machine and changing history?

I like the idea of a game where you have the power to change history... but only for the WORST!

Hehe, I like that idea psysal. I feel like it is a long standing tradition of devices that change history that they only make things worse -- or at least, that they always cause new regrets ...

That was quite possibly the funniest mini game that I have ever played! 10/10 - the art was great, anything more detailed and it wouldn't be as funny. It reminded me of Farside comics a bit. :D

Great job!

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.
