It is a new and exciting 2D RPG who's art style is inspired from comics. Our story focuses on Sen who is a demon who accidentally killed her brother. She runs and is forced to hide and survive on her own, only to be found and held liable for her crimes. She finds allies and fights for her freedom, which takes her all around the world to discover the prejudice and conspiracies that placed her in this bleak position.

We have some exiting features.



Nobody is useless.

I like games like Chrono Cross, Suikoden, Final Fantasies , etc, but they have characters that are less than desirable to have in your party because you just don’t care about them, or there’s other people that can do the same exact thing that they can do. Demon’s Revenge makes it a point to make everyone have their own unique skillset. Nobody will be easily replaceable and it will require strategy during battle when it comes to skills and stats.

Environment Interaction.

During battle, there will be ways to gain the advantage by using things in the environment, such as cutting down trees to fall on the enemy, or knocking down pillars to block the enemy from physically attacking you (Unless they do magic or fly) to turn the tides against them, but be warned, enemies can use this to their advantage as well!

Living NPCs.

NPCs have their own lives, jobs, families. They are aware of what is going on in the world and will make it clear to you throughout the game.

If you've ever seen a motion comic, you'll know that they are awesome! We will be telling our story with plenty of motion comics for you to enjoy along the way.

Did you die?

Nobody likes to go into a boss fight with a half hour cutscene just to die and have to sit through it again. Which is why we are adding a retry button to battles. With this retry button, depending on the difficulty that you choose, you will be able to start the battle over again with full stats (HP and MP on easy) or with the same exact stats that you had when you first entered the battle.

Full Sized Battlers.



We are going for the style of fighting game quality sprites for our battlers. These take much longer to complete, but the end product is totally worth it and extremely rewarding to see in action.

Ahh what can I say...? Umm... your artistry skills leave something yet to be desired. What more can I say: hone your skills until they are worth GAINAX's attention. Of course you don't need that to do sprite work, do you?

The walk sprites obviously ripped from PS2. Why not add another frame or two, at least? I hope the sprites do more on the map than just walk...

Whether you realize it or not you are competing with AAA efforts and you should keep that in mind. You price is too high... sorry, this game doesn't look like it can compete with the better Virtual Console offerings.

Don't give up but don't expect to walk away with $7,000 dollars in the next 30 days, either...

I get the impression this is a brother-sister or husband-wife type project. I might be worth it to look on Pixelation and get some more experience, maybe another team member or two before trying again.

And you'd might as well just cancel the campaign now, because new projects get the most attention and the longer a campaign drags on closer to the bottom of the list it winds up (unless it's markedly successful)

I'd like to add something about your art, that it seems overly inked and improperly lighted/shaded. Study the way other professionals do it, and emulate their technique (at least as far as shading goes).

Oh, and learn Blender. :)

Thanks for the reply. The sprites are actually custom. I don't think we will give up anytime soon but we have indeed seen far worse. I don't think people actually watch our video cause we get that same response until people actually see our work out there.

Not assuming that you are one of those people. Some points make, make me think you have actually seen it.

Our art is more on the side of concepts and extras.I featured a style I was trying but just was not received well(especially for an RPG).The sprite work would really be what the game has to offer. But, we do have some artist that are willing to work with us on some things. We have been accepted pretty well and just recently are getting the art comments. Which are pretty disappointing but not enough to derail our attempts to make this successful.

After all its the game we are trying to make. Not an animated feature right? But those things do need to be addressed.

We have a demo that will be out soon and we figure that should be our final word.

Edit: Ahhh I see well I was trying to emulate a few comic pieces I had scene and I think I see where your coming from with the over inking. I'll see how its receipted in the Demo and I'll be sure to change it if it still does not work.

Yes I watched your video. The presentation was amateurish... I know it seems like a lot of work, but you should be creating something to sell, not to rake money with on Kickstarter.

You will receive commentary from professionals. You are competing with them and they expect you to offer product comparable to what they themselves might offer.

If I beta-test your game, I should receive it for free. The pros hire people to beta-test all day long. But this is an RPG Maker game so unless you're writing your own VX engine in Ruby, there should be no beta testing to speak of. Suck it up and do the testing or give the game away to those who do. Yes I know RPGMaker sucks but if you hate it that much do it in something else or put together your own engine in QB64. ...Wait, if your game sucks so bad that you don't want to beta test it, why are you releasing it?!

About comic inking: it's done with computers and by professionals who do nothing but ink. I remember reading in a Spawn comic segment about how they do their art, where they described three stages storyboarding, rendering, and inking. (and if I recall correctly, the inking was outsourced to Asia).

Ask the [url=wayofthepixel.net]Pixelation[/url] people to confirm, but I think effective inking requires a decent amount of color interpolation -- try that and see if you don't get better results. The people at Pixelation are professionals who have worked on games you own, so they can tell you for sure if you ask.

Finally, you're acting like a stuck-up business suit. More emotional connection, please.

Yeah the presentation could have been better.But I wanted people to buy the game not the presentation.

We are actually making something people would want to play believe it or not.

As far as RPG maker goes. Never remember hearing it sucked. You are actually the 1st person I encountered that mentioned something like that. We actually like it we have all custom sprites and some really nice coders doing commission work here and there.

Believe it or not we are passionate about our project. We are not trying to make a quick buck. There have been RPG games with far less customization and animation than we have. We are really going all out on this. So we can't wait to get the demo in people hands to see how passionate we truly are.

I am glad you are taking interest in making our game a better product. We have something really unique and we hope people will like it. :)

It's like this dude, if your game is not as good as Penny Arcade 3 (which it probably isn't) you shouldn't be pricing above it. (it's running for $5 according to PCGamer). Price to sell. You have no name cred and you are offering a sub-par product... how do you think people will react?

Ok, I'll weigh in here and say I think this is looking really nice.

Yes some of the art as, tcaudilllg said, could be touched up a bit, but it's still in development so I'm sure it'll be ironed out. I wouldn't say it amateurish though. I'm surprised at some of the things kids these days love that passes for "art". Blech. I think it looks appealing and fits well with the theme. The overall art style also, I just love. Heavy shading, thick outlines, and an overall darker tone it's great. :D

I also like the motion comic type presentation you have going on. Not everyone can do a full animated cutscene so I think it's a good compromise to just doing the plain boring static pictures thing. Though not all of us can do the motion comic thing either, hehe, but it's appreciated.

I like the story of you kinda being "bad" and having to atone or prove you're good or whatever. That's pretty cool, and sets a nice darker tone for the game. The battle system I thought was nicely executed so far too. The zooming and animation on the battle screen looks very nice so far.

Good luck, I'll be keeping an eye on this one. :)

Thanks a lot. I figured the art was a hit or miss. I augured I'll try my own expressive approach. But I'm going for a cleaner more traditional look after I have received the universal reaction from it. Thanks a ton for the feedback!
