INPUT "Enter Text:"; Text$
Simple enough, I'd say. _________________ "Goth is a way for ugly people to be interesting."

Indeed! It is that simple!! I just don't try hard enough.
So this is the famous DarkDread... I have heard much about you. I read all your tutorials. They're great! It's too bad you stopped making them after your fourth version.

You can get both here: http://de.tekscode.com _________________ "Goth is a way for ugly people to be interesting."

Oh yeah, if you want to input text in realtime, you can also use inkey$. in your main loop just do something like a$ = inkey$, then check a$ against whatever key you are looking for. _________________ *Only in darkness can one truely shine*

INP(&H60) is much faster than INKEY$.
Much faster... and more accurate as well.
DO
A$ = INKEY$
LOOP
Won't run as fast as..
DO
A = INP(&H60)
LOOP
And you compare the value of INP(&H60) against the Keyboard scan codes list provided with QB's help menu and you're all set. If your engine requires a lot of speed, then you might want to look into it. Otherwise INKEY$ will do you just fine (unless you're checking for keys like the arrow keys (CHR$(0) + "M" (right), +"K" (left) + "P" (down?) + "H" (up)) or F1 and such... (CHR$(0) + ";")

Hmmm. I'll have to try this. Since you've all been so nice, i'll give some details to my rpg.
Take the role of an 18 year old who loves adventure. during his vacation, an enemy country with great technology invades your land, it's your duty to warn the king of this upcoming attack. But someone's watching, and he's not too happy...
*Deep, Deep story. So deep you'll need a fork!!
*Dozens of weapons!
*Many allies!
*Mini games!
*Graphics... well, who knows?
*same with music. I'm sorta tone deaf.
*Release date? Well, from the time it'll take me, about a year to two years. Yikes!!

Since there is only me, This will take a while to make this rpg. After all, I want to make this rpg all perfect and everything!! Here are other things to look out for:
*reference to darkages and cooey!
*a story better than darkages (I hope)
*a battle system that uses atb gauges
*many types of magic
*finishing moves
*special abilities
*Cheats!! (Maybe)
*many types of weapons! E.g. swords, spears, axes, guns, staffs,
*MAGES!! MONKS!!! SUMMONERS!! KNIGHTS!! MERCENARYS!! AND MANY MORE!!!!
*A huge world!! with four continents, each roughly the size of the continent in darkages!!
*People kick you out of their houses!!
*Over a hundred monsters!!!
*And many, many more!!

yeah, i want it to be great. it'll be my first rpg, and even though i've only been programming qbasic for a couple weeks now, i still think it'll be good. The script is getting a bit big for my little textbook though. I'll have to rely on you guys to help me in times of need!! like who looks cooler, who should be the main character, music, stuff like that. The main problem will be battles and music. i just can't wait to sink my teeth in some more good tutorials!! i'm reading the So You Want To Be A Pixel Artist? I have a feeling this guy reads html stuff from htmlgoodies.com, like so you want a table, huh? so maybe he forgot the huh, but so what?? anyways, i'm getting pretty excited right now.
whether you like me or hate me, you're going to see more of me from now on. _________________ Adosorken: I always liked slutty 10th graders...
