Ever wonder how you stack up against other game engines? Some folks at verge are hosting a 72 hour rpg compo over the break and any game creation engine or language is allowed.

I never participate in these things but I'm sure some of you would like to. This compo website also has tons of old compo submissions, all rated. Check it out if ya want.

Gack, I hate time limit based stuff around the holidays. That's when I don't have any free time to spend on it. lol.

I giess I'll enter anyway, just for kicks. I probably won't finish, but oh well. Say, anyone want to join a team with me, just for kicks?

I wouldn't mind joining, but i'm only a novice in creating rpg's, and i only know qbasic. and even then i don't know much. i'm very good at making scripts and graphics too. Last night i spent about half an hour working on... a tree! yep, that's right. But it's a pretty tree too. I'm proud of it. But i can't wait until i get my actual rpg off the ground. another reason is because i won't have internet access until after the holidays. i could do major work on a storyline and graphics, , but i don't have the internet. I use the internet at school. I could definately finish the story and (maybe) graphics for an rpg in 72 hours, but i wouldn't be able to submit my work! so i'm out.

Yeppers, that's a problem alright. If it wasn't for that we might be able to enter together, cause I'm more of a programmer than an artist.

Hey, I'm willing to do gfx for a 72 hour compo entry, if I may say so, I'm a decent sprite artist- I think it's my strong point, I'm not much of a progger. :-P

yeah, i'm not bad at pixel art. my best thing would be scenery. and i've only been doing pixel art for a week or so! my very best thing would be storyline though. i suppose i could write a storyline and send it in at friday. post a reply to that.

Well, plot is always the easy part. If that's what you want to do though, it's ok. Just make sure you don't start until friday, cause that's when the competition starts.

I don't think that would work. last day of school is friday, and [i]*sigh* [/i]that is the last day i get internet. (i use the ones at school.) I didn't start yet, but there is pretty much nothing that day. And i don't get high speed (or our new dell) until after christmas. But i have an idea for rpg characters. too bad you couldn't use them, as it would get you disqualified. Man, i so want to help! too bad i couldn't bend the rules, think up a story, then send it to you friday.

Well, even if you could, in theory, bend the rules and write the stuff now, the topic isn't going to be announced until Friday. So it'll be impossible to write a plot beforehand. I suppose if you really want to, you can send me your character ideas. I can't guarentee that I'd use them, but it'd be more of a brainstorming thing than a concrete "work" thing, especially if they are vague ideas. Of course, somehow I doubt you'd want to do that. It's like desecrating your beloved characters. Heh.

That could help DarkPagan.

Alrighty, everone who is definantly going to help, please post the name you will enter under so I can register the team. So far it appears to be Dark and Frog32 and of course yours truely. Just go ahead and post again anyway Dark and Frog just to confirm. . . hehe.

Ok, the contest is today. Judging by the lack of reply to this, either nobody read it, or those I'll helps were just passing whims and fancy, not to be taken seriously. In anycase, if either of you were serious, please post here so we can get a game plan together so to speak.
