I'm actually considering making an RPG based on the lyrics of Nirvana as well as the writings of Kurt Cobain's journal. If I went about this who would actually be interested in playing it?

I love Nirvana.... in fact I'm listening to them right now (Dumb is on right now). But isn't all this fame you're attracting to them the reason Kurt shot himself? I would like a game, but I wouldn't make it myself just to keep respect for their ideals of just playing music for fun, not to be famous.

Kurt Cobain just may be the most misunderstood mainstream artist of our time. His basic message was "Your life is empty and meaningless, so change it" whereas the typical fan response was "My life is empty and meaningless; I can so relate to that" with no drive toward change. No wonder the man killed himself: he became an icon for the very thing he sought to destroy.

I have no idea how Nirvana (the band) could work as a RPG. It might be a worthy experiment however.

I doubt a qbrpg will really attract that kinda attention. Besides it won't be called Nirvana RPG it will be "Musical Soldier". It won't have Kurt Cobain as a main carachter either, it'll be about an amnesiac living in a world based on their lyrics and stuff.
P.S Also listening to them right now. Pennyroyal tea.

I'm listening to Rage Agianst the Machine right now. I like Nirvana too, but it becomming a bit too commercialised. Still good though.

We'll see how the RPG works out. Wish you luck. :)

??? Nirvana? commercialised? I don't know how commericialised a band can be with a suicide herion addict-ex lead singer and a song called "rape me" can get.

Actually after some thought I decided a nirvana based RPG would just be a bad idea. In fact as a fan I'm angry at myself for even considering it.
Note: I might yet use the name musical soldier for an RPG but it won't have anything to do with Nirvana.

Look, if almost every guy in my class has got Nirvana's new CD I call that commercialisted. At least... A bit. It has become one of those if-you-have-it-you're-in/if-you-don't-you're-out things. I don't have it, but I don't talk too much with people who think like that. :)

Dude, there's a statement that came 10 years too late. I mean, I know the new single sold more cds, but Nirvana's been as commercial as you can get since 'Nevermind.'

Nirvana isn't commercial, jeez. They have awesome music and they distribute CDs of their music for money as ALL bands do. Commercialized bands do TV shows and commercials and model for magazines and such. Nirvana is a group of people with ideas and grievances trying to make a buck with their talent. Listen, we can argue over our individual interpretations of being commercialized and where we draw the lines. So I'll agree with you that Nirvana was never super commercialized in that sense. But they were on tv (SNL). And you could talk to a list of people who say playing the MTV game is being commercialized in and of itself. I was never putting a negative connotation on the term, but if you ask a band like, say Fugazi, they'll tell you Nirvana was commercial.

But all that aside, I was replying to a comment that they we re becoming commercial. And I think the poster meant that as they were more popular and in the public eye. I was merely saying that the latest cd has not changed their status at all. They were one of the bands that brought grunge into the limelight (along with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains).

If every guy without taste has got the newest CD of Narvana just to be part of the group, I call it commercialised.
I still like Nirvana, though.

Ah, they're a bunch of yellabellies! Not my style. Captain Jack is cool, as well as ATC and the Coco Jamboo. Now there's some good taste of music.
