Just wondering what anyone thinks about my first article (see the theory section at RPGDX.net look for 'My View on RPGs'
Please be honest, and tell me your thoughts on my thoughts. :)
Please don't post if all you want to say is that I'm an a**hole.
Thanks.

I've completely redesigned my article.
(Yes, it look MUCH MUCH better than that ugly black on green that I had)
Hope you like the article.

Well, after going through your article (I did so before you had redone it though), I had the impression that you have a very narrow definition of what an RPG is, or that you're just going specific in areas that vary tremendously from RPG to RPG while saying it doesn't neccesarily need to be the way you describe.

Well, at least it is interesting to read what somebodies idea of RPGs can be. Mine is totally different and probably much more general. I do not think my idea would be interesting enough to write an article about though. It would probably be something like: "An RPG is a Role Playing Game." :-)

This was less your view on RPGs than your definition of them. I would have liked to see more constructive opinions and advice suitable to developers, instead of a brief description of RPGs for someone who has never played one before. In other words, say what you think RPGs should be like, what works and what doesn't, rather than just what they are.

And, ARGH! Don't put line breaks (<br />) in the middle of a paragraph! I have no idea why people do this. It ruins the flow of the text for anyone who sizes his browser window smaller than you do. ARGH!

can't please everybody :\
Like I said, it is my FIRST article, and now I can move onto better, more
useful articles, heh, I'm going to write an article entitled,
"The Basic Basics of Basic Game Programming with BASIC"

This is not a Quickbasic article, but a BASIC article in general,
not dealing with graphics, but more the logistics behind games.

Once it is complete, I'll post it to the programming section of articles.

Read what I told Bjorn.
Oh, and (maximize your browser when you read stuff, or it will hurt your eyes!)

It's a bit harder to read with the browser maximized because the lines are so long, and it's hard to jump from the end of one line to the beginning of the next.

Like DrV said. Also, I use Opera, and always run it maximized, on a 1024x768 display; for me it doesn't get any bigger than it is. I suppose I could shrink the text, but hey, like you said, it would be bad for my eyes.

It's not a great big deal, it's just that you're going to a fair amount of effort in order to make your article less legible, for no benefit I can see. Why do it?

I'm sorry, I uploaded the wrong version of the file!

I fixed it... hope you all are happy.

Sorry again for those annoying line breaks. (yes they are terrible, I didn't realize I uploaded the beta version.)

Opera! Yay! I use it at 1280x1024, though.

Now this thread is absurd...
Firs you request feedback on the article (but only if it's nice)
then when you get constructive critizism you sort of start
whining about it... really what did you want? that people pat
you on the head and say "good boy" ???
