Far into the future, when the earth was near to ruin, a team of scientists discovered a way
to preserve human life.
That sentance kicked off the production for my huge flagship project, Worlds Beyond. This is a project I have been wanting to do for about 3 years, and has finally been realized, thanks to JKettles16.
That's a basic shot of the first town, It's a little bland right now, but it will be spiced up a bit later on.
The manuscript is completely finished, as is the music, and most of the graphics. Estimated play time for Worlds Beyond is 15 hours.
I will post more updates here when they come up.

If it was a little more rigid, like Chrono Trigger maps, it would be a really good game, but I'm a little tired of the bland "tiled" look to things. I like the art, but not the structure. 6 out of 10 because of your age :)

Although it's indeed a bit 'tily', the picture has a nice composition. The sinister wooden box makes it particularly interesting. I would certainly try this game out.
(And thanks for posting the first thread in this forum. ;-))

Well, I'd better change the house graphic then- I'll save this one for a 'sinister wooden box' graphic, if I ever need one. ;-)

Well, the graphics ARE tiley, but whether or not thats a bad think is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to like tiley graphics.
I think the colors need some work. You should be using different colors to differentiate between trees and grass. The water is a bit dim and murky (unless that is the intention). The house has a nice thatched/earthen-mound look to it (albeit a little tall). It's kind of weird that the trees are half-imbedded into the house, but thats more of a map issue.
I would also add, however, that I feel Chrono Trigger is a terrible example to hold for RPG graphics.
Personally, I feel they are sloppy and show poor color choice. But more importantly, the sheer variety in the jumbled piles of rocks and garbage and whatnot make an impossible task for an independant developer. We're talking 1000s of man-hours. Do-able for a team of artists with nothing else to concern themselves with for a year, but not for your average indie developer.

So basically, according to some comments above, the following would look a bit nicer.
I hereby contribute the new tiles used in this picture at no cost, to graphically enhance your indie-RPG project. :-)

looks nice. call me picky, but i'm tired of shores that are straight as a ruler. how many times do you see straight shores? Not trying to sound mean. Just has track and field, and i'm tired. Well, you don't have to use it. I don't see what there is about the picture that someone could not get, though. I just tried to turn a 'sinister wooden box' ;-) into a wooden cottage.

I just don't get that part at the back that's all dark- Sorry :(
EDIT:
Ohhhh.... I get it. It's a pointy peaked roof-type thingy whatever you call em thing.
I was going for a flat roof myself, though- seeing as I have VERY limited space in my tilesets.

Hmm... the roof would look better if it wasn't done in the same material as the walls... it does look more 3d-ish the second time around, though. And I don't like straight shores either... _________________ Don't ask no stupid questions and I won't send you away.
