Hi all,
I would like to get some feedback on this online game.
In this fantasy multiplayer RPG you have to fight monsters and evil creatures.
The ability to save the princess and become the king depends on the players' capability to use magic and strength.
You can choose to be either a warrior or a cleric.
It will be necessary to join forces to win against the dark creatures, so you have to invite your friends to join the battle in this online multiplayer (otherwise, defeating monsters will be very hard) 8) .
You can play the game by clicking here, no download are required (only your browser is needed)
The game was built on DimensioneX, you can freely download the game source here.
The game was developed as a testbed for the game engine, nevertheless I would like to improve it, some feedback would be very appreciated.
And here, a screenshot.

Wow, that game is cool, even though I was very quickly killed by a Snake Monster (because I was playing all alone... and that Zulu warrior guy certainly wasn't any help).
Anyway, I voted yes, but conditionally (which is why I'm posting instead of just voting). The game's cool, but slower and choppier than I'd like (which is the problem with all online games I've played). So any additions you can make to the game are great, but streamlining it and bettering the speed would be even better. I don't mean to get you down, the speed isn't horrible, and certainly doesn't make the game unplayable unlike some online games I've seen; it's just that that was my main fault with the game, not lack of features or anything like that.
Oh, and just so as you know, it didn't seem to work in Opera. Opera's been known not to handle multi-media things too well, though (but it's still my browser of choice), so don't worry about it too much.

Hah, thanks very much!
well I've just dropped in now and I've seen the snake monster healthy and smiling at me in the basement.... :-)
I just wished to say something about operation in Opera. I have Opera 6.05 and I recently installed the latest QuickTime... I don't know if it's Quicktime which fixed the issue, but it all works great with music, sounds, bells & whistles...
The characters are not very talkative, true, probably this will change as soon as the plot is enhanced a little....
Thanks very much for your input, anyway.
People on the net seem to be so focused on tile-based RPG games that I can hardly find useful hints to move on. _________________ --Cris

Thats a neat concept. I went right past the green ghoul guy. When I tried to pick up the key or a health potion I couldn't immediately figure out how to do it. I'm assuming that part of the interface needs some more work. Good job, keep us posted!

Just click "pick" and then click the item.

I voted 'yes', but I am not very positive about it being a web-based thing. The graphics and sounds are nice as it is now but I think the game could run a lot smoother and the interface would be a lot cleaner if it were a dedicated application running preferebly in a window (or have windows/fullscreen an option). Oh, and I was killed by the first monster too... :-(
BTW, it totally crashed Mozilla 1.4... probably because of the sounds. And also, it probably didn't crash but I was probably to impatient while probably QuickTime was connecting to a server, probably to fetch the necessary media addons that it later fetched when I tried the game in Internet Explorer. But this assumption is all based on probabilities and can therefor probably not be relied upon.

Thanks folks for your comments, really.
With regards to the user interface, yes, I reckon it needs improvement. I have several ideas, one is to implement drag-and-drop for picking items. I already have the necessary javascript code working.
With regards to the integration with multimedia, unfortunately yes it is demanded to the users' browser. For this reason the players' experience may range from good to bad depending on the installed MM plugins.
Hmmm I shall solve this.
However, if you would like to try again without risking crashes, just uncheck the 'sounds' option on the connection form. _________________ --Cris
