Well, me and Jihgfed Pumpkinhead are doing a shooter/rpg hybrid: Most of the game is played as a vertical shooter, but at any time you can switch to the interior of your ship and walk around rpg-style. You can talk to the weapons officer to equip/change you weapon outfit, or talk to the navigation officer to see a level map. And in between levels you get briefings on your viewscreen from inside the ship. Would this count as an action rpg?
I want Bjorn's opinion (Or another mod/admin) before I post it, as I'm not sure it would qualify.

Hmm, I don't really think so, Frog, and I'm writing the thing for you. Heh. There's lots of other fora (no, that's not a typo) around for it, though, right? And you're always free to pimp it in the off-topic forum (as I'm sure we can trust you to behve yourself).

That's what I thought too, but then I saw that r-type thingy in the action section...

As I understand it, and if I remember correctly, that's a work in progress which is supposed to contain more RPG elements at some future point.

We definitely need a new RPGDX rule: NO PICKING ON A MEMBER'S SPELLING WHEN SAID MEMBER IS PARTICIPATING IN A SEVERELY TIME-LIMITED COMPO. I'm soooo tired...
Heh, no hard feelings, though.

Frenetic Plus, a game I'm a few weeks from releasing, is very close to what you described. The game plays just like Frenetic, but between missions you move around the ship's virtual interface from a top down perspective. From there, you can mod and upgrade your suits, read emails and news bulletins, and examine your journal.
Despite all that, I wouldn't count it as anything other than a action game.

Really, it's up to you. Until now, I've never judged any project on RPGDX on enough RPG-ish ness. If you think it's RPG-ish enough to want to put it here, it's fine. Sirocco felt he made an action game, I've seen it on Allegro.cc and am not surprised that he has not added it here, though I would probably not have objected to it.
